Making Scripture Accommodate Our Lives.

Recently, i have had my mind transformed on a couple of things.

I realised that instead of accepting what scripture truly said, i had accepted an (incorrect) opposing argument simply because i wanted to, as it made my life easier to deal with.

There are some obvious passages in scripture where people's lives are made difficult when they read them either because of their personal issues or because of their personal circumstances or both. I'm sure you can think of some but the issues themselves are irrelavent to this thread as it's not about the issues per se, it's about what we subsequently do with scripture. We make scripture accommodate our chosen path in life, our decisions, our wants, needs and desires.

If i'm brutally honest, that's what i was doing on at least two personal issues.

I started to think of Christians in other countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt where Christianity is a minority and an offense to the standard Muslim majority there who will persecute and kill if a Christian becomes too troublesome.

People are still martyred for believing Christ.

Do we want easier lives? Of course, if we're honest but at what cost?

Scripture says what it says.... Christ is on the throne and we can all too often be at least cowardly and at worst guilty of making God in our own image.

Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever-fixèd mark

William Shakespeare

Excellent post Di...

WE must at all costs let God speak, we are to listen, believe and follow.
