Making You Better
June 6, 2007
James 1:3 For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything. NLT
A day will come when you will wake up from bed and feel like you want to sleep the day away. Bills, problems, people, everything is wearing your nerves. It will even seem that God is not listening to your prayers and you want to just give up. Heaviness, broken heartedness, lack of love, lack of money, all kinds of things will wear and tear on your spirit man. But, if I can encourage you with one phrase, it would be, "Remember!"
That's right! Think back to the time you went through this before. When God came through for you. Think back at the time when you saw no way out and he opened a door that you could not even see. Your struggles are making you strong. Your situation is making you better. God is working something in you to get you to the next phase of your walk. Don't cheat yourself by quitting. Let it work out and keep your words positive.
Sure, you want to sleep the day away, but then, you will rob God of the glory that he will get from bringing you through it. You will survive and he will never let you down. Don't blame God for your lack if you don't have. Just ask and believe. Pay your tithes and give extra offerings. Sow into people and be a good steward over what they give you. You will see that God was there all the time. Working to get you to a better place.
