Created by god, proved to be useful as medicine, oil, paper and clothing, now I want to know, what do you people think about the current laws in the united states, is it defying god? if you are to look up the origins of it being outlawed you will see it's because of racism.

but now a days they are saying it is because children get high from it, well according to statistics, children are still getting high from it regardless of the laws and our youngin's are going to jail for it, do you think this is right? kid's are now searching out legal alternatives which are actually lethal to there health, dxm, found in common cough syrups, kids are drinking it in order to feel a hallucinagenic high which destroys the liver and affects the immunity system when abused.

so why is it that marijuana is illegal when there are thousands of legal alternatives that are alot worse for ones health mentally and physically, why can man's creation (alcohol) be sold in stores which cause fights, ignorance and all around indecency, when marijuana cannot even grow in god's land?

I am in no way condoning marijuana use for anyone, but people are gonna do it, so why should they go to jail?

Because the law nowadays has drastically changed over the centuries as while moral decency has declined drastically, nothing is perfect when operated by mankind itself. People misuse things that are not intended to be used the way they use it. For example, we can use steal to build cars and to hold up building structures. We can also use it to create weapons and kill people. Its simple understanding.

We can use marijuana for medical purposes (when necessary without exaggeration), or we can use it as a bad habit, lifestyle and hurt our bodies. We can use alcohol as a fine drink, a glass with dinner at the family table. Or, we can get drunk and kill people with our cars while drunk.

The law created by man is not perfect because man is not perfect.

I have a question for you, what did you create today (or ever) that's better than what GOD created? Curious :)

Hi, i smoked weed for along time before becoming a christian and i believe if weed was used for medicine thats great because thats why God put it here but if you have smoked it you know it is not pure herbs that we are being sold it is mixed with other things. coke or heroin is used by dentist to numb gums by dentists in its pure form but others die from it.

itillegal don't do it

From my experience with it (marijuana) I would have to say that it ends up separating you from God. I've often tried to understand why God would put such a substance on the earth. Afterall, it IS a naturally occurring substance, an herb. Some of my friends claim it actually brings them closer to God because it makes them more spiritual. Is smoking natural? I doubt it but thats arguable. I used to try and rationalize my use of it by referring to St. Paul's discourse on liberty. Now I realize that it is actually pretty bad in that it does indeed separate you from God. How? Well for one thing it becomes more and more important the more you do it. It becomes an idol because it provides a relief from the world and all of it's complications.

It becomes an idol because it oftentimes ends up becoming first rather than God. It provides an escape and that makes it tempting and dangerous. For a long time I wouldn't talk to God when I was high because I thought He wouldn't want to hear from me when I was intoxicated. When I started to defy this lie and actually started to talk to God whether I was stoned or not I began to realize that marijuana was bad. It enhances knowledge, it gives you insight, it gives you a false sense of well being. God wants to provide us with everything we need and I doubt that He condones smoking pot for these reasons and maybe others.

To me it seems like witchcraft, like I'm going around God to obtain knowledge and insight and that I'm learning things I shouldn't be learning until God says it's ok to learn. Kind of like the forbidden fruit. I liken it to fortune telling, tarot card reading or the like. It opens something in us to the spirit realm but that isn't a good thing unless the Holy Spirit is with you. On the other hand I also believe that it may very well help some to see through the "matrix" that surrounds us and keeps us from believing in the supernatural. But, God Himself will certainly aid in that area without the use of a drug administered via smoking. My final comment is this, just go to Amsterdam in the Netherlands sometime and see what effect pot has on a culture. It's pretty disgusting if you ask me.

Hadoz, I say amen to your input, marijuana is damaging to the lungs, just like cigarettes, if you want to get high, friend the best high you will ever get is from Jesus. Trust him and see. God Bless, Rebeck

There is a some discussion in our Australian media regarding the long term side effects of Marijuana.

Many people have commented that it slowly kills the brains cells of the user, and can lead to long term personality disorders and mental health issues. I tend to agree, as I know some people who have been regular users over the years, and it has drastically affected their mental health. It has a control over their lives and sadly they are wasting their lives away.

Marijuana is illegal in Australia, however, some people still use it.

In my opinion, God would not approve of people ruining their health through the use of marijuana. God wants us to rely on Him in our daily lives and not to try to escape through the use of this drug.

Thank you for posting this topic!

Have a blessed Christmas

Satan loves to poison the flesh

I know exactly how hard it can be to break an addiction, and I know how many hoops people will try to jump through to rationalize being "still allowed" to use the drug that holds them in bondage. I've heard "Jesus turned water into wine so alcohol must be ok" and "God made marijuana" etc. So let's take a look:

Assumption #1) God created Marijuana

We cannot be certain this basic statement is entirely true. God made the templates for all life on this planet, and as such made the plant from which modern marijuana is derived. But mankind has been manipulating that life for his own selfish ends for tousands of years.

Why would God let mankind mess with His plants? God allows us to be as stupid as we choose to be, to give meaning to the times when we choose not to be stupid.

-----

#2 - Marijuana has medicinal value

Ask yourself, why would a God who promises release from *all* sickness even bother to create a plant to be a medicine for believers?

The medicinal properties of marijuana are there for the use of the beasts that seek out the plant to chew it up and feel better -- are you a raven scrabbling in the dust to be taken care of by the common grace given to animals or are you Disciple of God seeking Him who alone may provide all healing and uncommon Grace?

------

#3 Because God created marijuana and it is natural, it is *good* for mankind.

God created cyanide
God created fire
God created uranium
God created the Devil

Being too closely involved in any of those things will not serve you very well to say the least. There's no lack of stuff out there that God created for His purposes which mankind would do better to use very carefully or avoid altogehter.

-----------------

The medical facts show that marijuana use *destroys* vassopressin. Prolonged use may *permanently* damage the brain's ability to make vassopressin. The studies on vassopressin are showing it to be one of mankind's most prescious neurochemicals, and the loss of it is being linked to conditions from Alzheimers to autism to a difficulty in being able to fully experience the natural attraction and pairbonding between males and females. However God may have intended us to use marijuana (if at all), smoking it to get high (thereby destroying our vassopressin reserves) is pretty clearly not it.

Whatever God intended marijuana to be for, the drug culture that has grown up around it just cannot be right. For most of us, to even *get* marijuana, you have to associate with criminals and perform criminal acts. You're kidding yourself if you think you can buy and sell criminal goods from criminal people and not have some of their iniquity rub off on you. What are you going to say to the cops that bust in the door while you're mid deal "It's ok officer, *I'm* Christian...I was just here to buy this dope to kill the pain in my leg, no need to arrest *me*" ?!?

There is no more room in your heart for God than the room you make for Him - but if you just let Him in, you'll never need any mere chemical to feel happy or well ever again.

God bless you,
Janette

Forgive my ignorance if I am wrong here but doesn't it say somewhere in the New Testimate that we should obey the laws of our leaders (government)? I'm pretty sure there is a few verses somewhere that address that topic.

I was addicted to marijuana for about three years and I continually lied to myself about the sinfullness of it. I would tell myself the Bible doesn't outright condone it and its a natural plant that God create so it can't be that bad. I couldn't do anything or go anywhere until I got high first. Marijuana was truly my god back then. I would tell everyone I was going to smoke weed until the day I die.

I thank God up above that he intervened in my life through a series of unexpected events that led me into the Air Force and forced me to stop. I was on the borderline of getting into hard drugs and getting arrested for my involvment with that whole scene. For all I know marijuana is also the leading cause of my anxiety issue that I deal with today. It says in the Bible that we will know false prophets by the fruit of thier labor and likewise I believe we will know sin by the fruit of its labor. That fruit for me was paranioa, close calls with the police, addiction, and most importantly a life far from Christ. Sin is often wrapped up in attractive seemingly harmless packages but the end result is always the same.

The bread of life is all I need to lift my spirit and make me feel whole.

you are right timk, when Jesus said give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's i take that as obey the law of the land. This is part of what smoking pot does to us as believers, it makes us paranoid. Why? Because we're breaking the law first of all. This is not at all what Jesus wants us to do for many reasons. I have found that what makes us anxious as believers is when we think we're in sin even though we know that we are forgiven. I can totally relate to feelings of anxiety as I have dealt with that for most of my adult life. Why? Well for one thing it is because I was in sin in spite of all the rationalization that my mind produced over smoking pot. Yeah maybe the Bible doesn't specifically mention pot smoking as a sin but when you're high don't you just know that it's a sin? At the very least it's still condemning knowing that you're breaking the law of the land which is definitely one of the things Jesus preached against. One of the things about America that impresses me is that marijuana is illegal. Is America a Christian nation? Yeah I think it most definitely is in spite of what the current take on politcal correctness seems to dictate. Liquor stores are still to this day not able to open until noon on sundays in this country which to the secular mind seems ridiculous but in my christian mind it makes alot of sense. Without going into alot of detail this very fact should say to us as believers that intoxication in any form is wrong according to more than just biblical law, it's common sense to non-believers too. We as believers need to realize that the secular world is watching us, trying to decide if there's something to this Christian way of life or not. Though Jesus spent time with the publicans, I doubt very much that He participated in their ways. What He was doing was telling them that they are loved too and not excluded from God's love.

Nadoz, in your Dec 21st post you bring up good points regarding why marijuana is illegal and alcohol isn't, but, those points don't fly as validation for marijuana use. According to research reported by the National Institute for Drug Abuse (drugabuse.gov), marijuana consumption has been proven addictive and dangerous at even moderate levels.

Hadoz, in my opinion, you are biblically correct when you made this statement. Paul wrote in (Gal.5:19-21) The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and WITCHCRAFT; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Here, the word "witchcraft" in the Greek has the meaning of "pharmakeia, use of drugs"

SpiritLed, if I wrote something on dec. 21st it's not in this discussion thread anymore. I don't see it anyhow... :icon_question:
