I have not been on here for some time but a friend of mine posed this question. If both man and wife pray about an issue and both feel led by the Lord to move in a certain direction, if one of them goes against that how should the other react? What scriptures can you give to help to better understand this particular type of situation?

hi there,

just want to give this verse. hope it will help.

Amos 3:3 - Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?

God bless!!!

The Bible answers!

Half-pint. Just to make sure I have understood it correctly. They both got the same answer, on how the Lord wants them to go. He said ... Do this.... and now one wants to do this and the other wants to do that.... Here is the biblical answer.

Firstly, they are both believers so this should not be hard to do for either of them. No matter which is which. Wheter it is the man or the wife that wants to do this or that, the man is the head and the wife should submit. Let her be subject to her husband in EVERYTHING! Just as the church is to Jesus. Read Ephesians 5 : 24.

And she can do this, because she is part of the church! And even if the husband is wrong, she should have the faith that God will soon help him right again, and they would both be wiser and stronger, because for those IN HIM all things work for the better! Romans 8:28.

This would help you my friend! It is His Truth!

Well said.

May I add, prayer brings a couple into unity (with the will of GOD), it never divides. God is not double minded. If division remains, with the husband going this direction, and the wife going that direction...someone isnt being honest...someone hasnt submitted their will to God - and its required of both a man and woman to submit FIRST to GOD. Eph 5 does show this clearly.

Sometimes the husband becomes so preoccupied with being the HEAD, that he forgets theres a HEAD above his own; sometimes the husbands big HEAD gets in the way of the wifes ability to see CHRIST`s.

I know the wife is to submit to her husband and to God, but as was said when praying about something and God gives an answer...it isn't He who is divided.

Mark 3:25
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

The division doesn't come from God. It comes from satan. Satan would LOVE to see marriages, families, homes split.

What needs to happen is for unity in the home to abound and that neither one husband or wife separate themselves from their spouse.

This situation is one of many ways that satan tries to break the house apart.

Psalm 127:1
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

If God is not the foundation of a marriage, a house, what is?

If God has not kept the city, house, what is?

Who is the watchman for the city, the house? Everyone should be the watchman for their own house. The husband and wife, instead of tearing down each other, need to be building each other up. Praying protection over each other so that satan doesn't get a foothold in.

I truly believe if husbands and wives would pray and read the Bible and seek the face of God together and privately every day, these kinds of things would not happen.

I can see the situation in my mind. In pictures...the husband and wife have agreed on something...but in the shadows lurks an evil presence...a demon one a mission. A mission to steal, kill, and destroy this marriage. He puts ideas into heads...he breaks the bond of agreement. He puts resentment in the minds and hearts of the husband and wife. He says to the wife "You don't need to submit. That's just a way for hubby to make you a rug so that he can walk all over you." To the husband the demon says "Jesus isn't the main head of this family. You are. Make your wife see that you are the head."

So the wife is bitter. The husband is prideful. And both lost the focus. They took their eyes off Jesus. Now, who will 'break' first and say they were wrong? *ha* "I won't say I'm wrong" the wife says. "Me either," the husband shouts.

A fight. Silence. Maybe even separate rooms to sleep. A wedge came between them. See. Even this seemly small situation can lead to separation...division...strife.

I am not sharing this to say...there is no hope, etc.

Because there is. What the husband and wife need to do is take the focus off of their feelings and what that demon said and put it on God. Let God heal and break the resentment, pride, etc. God can do it, too!

Remember a house divided against itself can not stand. Let God unite the house...the family...and help it to withstand any attack from the enemy. Let's place our houses..our homes upon the Rock...of Jesus...so that our families and marriages can withstand the test...and the mission of the enemy.

On Christ the solid rock I stand...all other ground is sinking sand!

Dear Half PInt
I dont understand the question. If both of you get the same answer from God, why would one want to go another way. If one is sure the answer is from God, then is it because the person does not like God's answer and dont trust God's answer or find it too hard?
Most times, when I encounter persons who want to go against God's answer its because
of the reasons I quoted above.
