"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not" - 1 John 2 : 1

Some who on doctrinal grounds, protest against sinless perfection, may easily run headlong into the rock at the other side of the channel down which we need to pass. That is they are in danger of saying, "Because sinless perfection is not obtainable in this life, I will just sit down under my sins: .....we become complacent. We take the attitude 'Well whatever will be, will be", and we say "I continue to sin: .......there is not much I can do about it"

And it is very interesting to notice that both of these rocks on which the ship can be wrecked, have the same ultimate result in the end. They make folks careless with regard to our sins: and if you and I are going to receive the great benifits of Gods provision for us as sinners, we have got to stand right in the centre and hold both of these truths firmly in our hands.

On the one hand there will be a continual facing up to the fact, and the confession of sin in our lives, and of course as we do that, "the blood of Jesus Christ God's Son goes on cleansing us from all sin" We could never dare to claim there is no sin there. Yet at the same time we have to accept the God-given objective, ........"that ye sin not"

This may be an ideal that I will not fully attain in this life; one that I shall only completely know when I stand before God, and view the Saviour face to face. As John tells us, "when I see Him, I shall be like Him" It may not be completely attainable until that great day; .........but in the meantime all who claim to follow Jesus, should accept this God given objective ........ "that ye sin not"

That reminds me of Romans 6:1,2 that says...."What shall we say then, shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid...How shall ye that are dead to sin live any longer therein?" I love this verse and also love Jesus my Lord for loving me and for dying for my sins past, present and future. I am thankful for a ever loving and merciful God.

Very well put. That is so true, either extreme will take you to the same result, sin. I truely believe that Jesus has given us the empowerment to have victory over ALL sin in our human state. Like one of my favorite verses so powerfully proclaims "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." (Ro 6:6) We should be filled with a holy passion that perfection is attainable. But at the same time, we should be filled with a holy fear of God that keeps us from saying we have attained that perfection. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." 1John 1:8 We must remain moldable before the Lord, open and willing to admit "I was wrong" in repentance.

Thanks for writing that brother, I enjoyed it, makes it more clear to me, Brother Bear

Absolutely....you hit the nail on the head there dear brother

We should be filled with a holy passion that perfection is attainable.

You are correct again dear brother.......thankyou for the input

God Bless You
