An idle or self absorbed mind is the devils playground. The heart absorbs what the mind thinks, and comes forth out of the mouth.
If one will keep their mind meditating on the Word; (renewing the mind by washing of water by the Word; living Water); the heart would not be absorbing tainted thoughts for the mouth to speak. Amen.

All praise, glory and honor be to God. Amen.

When you are asleep, your conscious mind is idle, and yet God speaks to us in dreams at times. Does the devil then control our sleeping mind then? I think not. You always have choices, and God wants a sabbath rest for us, both bodies and minds. Now a self absorbed mind is prideful and vain and easily swayed to do evil by any whispering evil spirit, that is true.

wow... nice attack... thank you brother, I praise God, He counts me worthy to to suffer for His name sake. amen.

So, what are nightmares? or "bad" dreams? All things are of God; but all good things come from God. amen.

Many times I have been under spiritual attack in my night visions. Yes, the devil comes at us in our dreams (night visions) also.

I recommend a great book called Strategy of Satan that deals with this topic plus more. It's an easy read but highly valuable resource for any believer.

It was not an attack, thank you sister. If you count it suffering when anyone disagrees with you, your idea of suffering is a bit out of order. Look to what happened to Paul, even more recently, the attacks on coptic christians over in Iraq, Syria, and Egypt, and so forth. That is suffering for Christ. If it hurts you emotionally when people disagree with you, let me know, and I wont respond with the truth toward your posts. Without sleep, which God wants for us, and made its need a part of us, we would suffer greatly in body and mind. I only disagreed with the idea of idle "always" being of the devil.

So then the scripture reads this way:

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice." Phil 4:4

and...

"Pray without ceasing." I Thess 5:17

Key words for your opening post are "always" and "without ceasing". If we are able to do those things without stopping, we will never fail, we will never stumble. Of course, we cannot, not alone we cannot. But, we are not supposed to do them alone. God recognizes our frailties better than we and Paul had the mind of God when he penned those words.

One verse that every believer should recall or paraphrase in prayer very regularly is this:

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" Matt 7:7

We should ask that the Lord help us to "rejoice in the Lord always" and to help us to "pray without ceasing".

Impossible for man alone, but for God is us all things are possible.

Amen Brother,
I was just going to post knowing how your enemy the devil operates is also something to grasp. The battle of the mind is all to real and it does not have to be an idle mind in order for satan to attack or get into. The devil works one thought at a time and that is why we must take captive every thought.

Hello Amadeus,
Amen and this is why "The Joy Of The Lord Is Our Strength"
When we have true joy of the Lord in our hearts Nothing can shake us.

Can I recommend a book? It is called the Holy Bible. Amen

Oh sister it is more then a book ! "Amen"
It is our operating manual and or life instrument panel when things look cloudy and it's our radar and course plotter when the fog rolls into our life. It is the air I breathe and the songs I sing. His written word is my desire to live. It's the greatest LOVE letter ever written to us. It is our life. Now that's THEE BOOK OF LIFE.
God Bless rag4aCrown

Sister you are right, the mind is one place the enemy comes to tempt, or entice us to sin. The good news is...

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

The common part of man is in his "human" nature. We have two natures, A divine nature which Jesus Christ brings when he becomes our new life, and then we have that old human nature that is a part of the natural man.
Jesus was God in the flesh, and we know God can not be tempted with evil. Jesus was never "tempted" in his divine nature, he was tempted in his human nature. We like him are the same as the devil can not tempt us to do evil in our hearts as that is where Jesus Christ lives, but only in our human nature, which our carnal human mind is apart of. The rebirth spirit which is Jesus Christ never absorbs what the carnal mind thinks for it is that place where truth is found. This is where the mind of Christ dwells. It suppose to be the opposite, as it is our human minds that is to absorb what our spiritual mind (mind of Christ) is thinking.

anytime we do not deny the flesh, we are in trouble, for our heart and our mind has focused on the carnal nature and not the spiritual. God has shown me, there is not one who is walking the straight and narrow, forsaking ALL, and picking up our cross and following Him; not one.
All praise, glory and honor be to God. amen

I do not think that nightmares and bad dreams are from God (if i am misunderstanding what you said, my apologies) But i do agree that the more we fill and renew our minds with the Word of God, the less time we spend letting in those thoughts that are not pleasing to the Lord. The more time we spend walking in love and forgiveness towards others, the less strife that we have let in to cause an open door for the devil to bring in bad thoughts that God has to help us to dig out of our brains. When we unconsciously or consciously let the devil even have a tiny crack into our thoughts, it lets him have an opportunity to harass us in our dreams. Now if we take our bad thoughts captive immediately to the obedience of Christ, and don't allow them to take root, we will have a much easier time not having to battle our thoughts.

I herd a prophet say, that as he spoke out loud godly things...one night he woke himself up saying those godly things in his sleep. Because as was stated, God desires for our minds to rest in Jesus, so when Jesus is all we eat, drink, sleep, watch, or listen to.....then Jesus is what comes out in our minds at all times. Jesus came that we may have life and life more abundantly! The mind controlled by the flesh (or sinful nature) is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace Romans 8:6

Blessing to you sister!

All things are of God; but all good things come from God. God uses the bad for His good to all those that love Him.
Praise God for the nightmare, for a blessings is coming out of it. Praise God gor those that hate you, ridicule you, falsely accuse you, persecute you for a blessing shall come out of it.
Do we believe in God, who is in control of ALL things or the thing put in our path?
There is nothing above Him and ALL things are below Him.

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. What is consuming our heart?
God has given us power and authority over darkness, even as we sleep, and here comes the devil to torment; speak the Word of truth and he shall flee from you, even as we sleep.
