Dear friend, don't let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God's children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God. 3 John 1:11 NLT
The best thing about Christianity is Jesus. The worst thing about Christianity is Christians who make Jesus look bad. How?
Christians have had a spotted record when it comes to some major world issues. Remember the Crusades? The subjugation of Native Americans? Slavery in the American South/North? All of these were spearheaded by Christians and carried out in the name of Jesus.
How is the world supposed to know the peace of God when Christians keep showing them a face of war? God’s children are called, above all else, to love. We are to model the good. When we act like the world—killing, stealing, enslaving, and so forth—and call it Christianity, we show that we don’t know the first thing about Jesus or His priorities.
Jesus came to heal the sick, to provide for the powerless, and to defend the cause of widows and orphans. How can we live like Him? We do the same.
It’s time for Christians to consider the message we’re sending when we fight for the wrong things, when we give power to the already powerful, and when we wage wars that make more widows and orphans.
Are you living as a model Christian to the world?
Prayer: Lord, show me the ways my priorities have been giving You a bad name and help me change.
