This German movie (nominee for an academy award) is about a non violent anti Nazi resistant group called White Rose in Germany during WW2 famous for a leaflet campaign in which they called for active opposition to the Nazi regime.
The group initially consisted of five students, all in their early twenties at Munich University. Between June 1942 to February 1943 they prepared and distributed six different leaflets, in which they called for an end to Nazi oppression and tyranny through active opposition of the German people. The group's members were also influenced and supported by their Christian beliefs, particularly Sophie and Hans became more and more convinced by Roman Catholicism.
The movie deals with their capture, interrogation and trial. Very powerful movie about youth standing up for what they believe and are willing to die for their beliefs and values.
The message is also important in our times. Many Christians are persecuted and killed in many parts of the world today dying for Christ and the gospel and opposing fascist regimes. I encourage everyone to see this movie.
