This is a movie trailer that I haven't seen yet, but looks to be dealing with an issue that is prevalent both in and out of Christianity. It implies that this is seen through the eyes of the Parable of the Prodigal Son. If anyone has seen it, there comments would be appreciated.

When I do watch it, I'll go ahead and post my thoughts on it.

I saw this movie in the theatre a few weeks ago. Very powerful and well done, in my opinion. Dan Allender contributed to this movie; I just "discovered" him several months ago. A big focus of his work is with sexual abuse which is also a major focus of the movie. Dan Allender says that Satan is very crafty in that he takes just a few minutes of a child's life with sexual abuse and creates a lifetime of shame, addiction, secrecy, etc. to keep us from God. This movie shines a light on that and helps us to see that God was there in those moments and He longs to set us free and deliver us from the shame of the sin that was done to us and that many times, we have fully participated in as we grew up and dove into pursuing the feelings that the sexual abuse introduced us to - or we build walls in an effort to never get hurt again. We pursue pleasure that was created by God to be beautiful in marriage but that is and became more perverted as we seek it outside that context. The movie deals with lust, addiction, shame, hiding, God's love and concern for us and our freedom in Him. Highly recommended.

I wanted to add that the movie does not only focus on sexual abuse - it would be helpful for anyone dealing with the shame of addiction, lust, etc.

Not necessarily movie-related, but most people don't understand that sexual abuse encompasses much more than what would be the traditional viewpoint of it being an adult with a child. It could be even a situation where another child close in age shares pornography or something else that then unlocks a whole host of things your brain and body weren't ready for at such a young age.

(Just thought I would share that as God has recently been shedding light on some things I experienced when I was a child and how it affected the trajectory of my life....so grateful for His healing).

I really appreciate your thoughts on the movie sister! The trailer has hinted in much of what you have written. It really helps to hear words from those who have seen/experienced, in this case a movie on such a topic such as this.

There are many folks who come by here (Talk Jesus) whose addictions are many, yet seem in the majority to revolve around morality, both in or out of marriage. Some are bold while others are in secret. Though we all who call Jesus Savior and Lord have the knowledge that there are no secrets that are done in darkness that won't be brought to the light one day. Still, the chains are not so easily cast aside for many.

That the experiences of childhood affect all of us I doubt not. Still, in Christ we know that the chains of sin that bind us from these earlier times can be broken. For some it takes even more time for this to occur, but with our Hope being the Lord, the way is provided. We can trust that God will succor those who not only seek Him, but Love Him and have put their all in the hands of God Almighty, Blessed be His name. Alleluia! Amen!

Your words provide me confidence that promoting this movie can be of benefit to many so burdened in life. For the believer has the resources to conquer what man by himself can never accomplish. So, if this movie can also point those who lack this resource to the One who can. I would count it a blessing.

Thanks again Sister for insight.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
