I have a problem with my husband, we have been seperated for 6 years and he has had custudy of our two boys for 5 years, and since becoming a christian 3 years ago has has refused to let me take our boys to church, even to the point of getting a court order to stop me taking them. I guess im just wondering how i could teach them and show them Christ ina not so suttle way. I pray constantly for them but relly dont know what else to to with out upsetting my husband.

I am praying for you. My heart goes out to you. One thing you might be able to do is have devotions in front of the boys, and if they are interested in what you are doing, let them join you! Also, let them hear you praying for them. Something inside them will let them know that the love of God abides in you, and this will open their hearts just a bit. I pray that the Holy Spirit will begin wooing your boys to our mighty and great Savior and King, Jesus! I do not see how your husband can stop you from praying and reading scriptures in your own home. This you can do!

Love,
Dreamer

Hello amanda.......Dreamer has given good advice there, I support her words and council.

God Bless You and work things out for you

Amen

How old are your boys? Do they seem interested in Christ? Are they maybe mature enough to just have bible study with you? Fellowship even with a small number of believers is still fellowship :D

I think that their walk with Christ could start in your home, and when something happens that grants you custody, they turn 18 or something happens where you can take them to church, then they can further their walk with God and Christ in church. I know the church I attend has ministers who will come to your house for free, so this might also be an option.

I am not the wisest person on these forums by any means, but I think that is what I personally would do.

The number one thing you really need to do is pray. Spill your heart to God, and let him know whats going on. If you have never fasted, now may be a good time. Perhaps a 24 hour fast praying whenever you can. Whenever I have big decisions or tough situations facing me, fasting and prayer always helps significantly. You will certainly be in my prayers, you and your boys, and your husband.

My children are only 7 and 11, my 11 y/o is very interested but my husband gets really angry when he has heard that they have had any contact with any members of my church, but i do fast and i will take your advice about fasting for a solution

Fasting and prayer together are remarkably strong tools. I am so glad your 11 year old is interested! Praise God for that, that is just awesome. I honestly don't have much experience with kids, but they sound a little too young to "keep a secret", so maybe it wouldn't be the best idea to bring a minister over.

Your husband is definitely bent hard against Christ; I don't even know what to think about that, except that I will pray for him. Again I am thinking your best bet in this situation seems to be educating them yourself. I can't say I have much experience, but I am sure there are tons of books out there that deal with ministering to youth that might help you.

I don't think he could get a court order against you for that, but I am not a lawyer so I don't know. I will continue to pray for your situation, and I truly hope it gets resolved.

Also it just occurred to me to maybe speak with a counselor in your church and just discuss your situation. The Holy Spirit may guide them to an option we haven't thought of.

thanks for your prayers and advice, I have made an appointment with the youth pastor at my church 4 tuesday so im praying she will have some good suggestions also.... thanks again.

Will be praying about your meeting tonight sister, I hope the counselor is wise. God bless.

My meeting with the youth pastor went really well, she gave me similar advice, she gave me a kids bible and i went out and brought some kids christian cd's. She also gave me some really good topic ideas that we could talk about together. Now I just need to pray for the courage to introduce it all to them. My huspand has an extreamly bad temper and anything christian sets his temper off, but if i dont do something now i will never get up the courage. but i do know that Jesus wants to have a relationship with my boys so i have the faith in him to keep us save. I will let you know how it all goes. Thanks for your advice. :)
