Hello all! This is my first post ever on the forums, so I'll make it a good one :)

My wife and I absolutely love movies and have over 300 of them. Over the past 6 months or so, the Lord has really been speaking to me about the movies that we own. Some of them were obvious as to what we shouldn't own and we have gotten rid of those, but I still feel the Lord speaking to me about movies I still own. Since I've perused my collection several times and nothing jumps out at me, I've catalogued all of my movies for sharing and discussion.

I created a spreadsheet using EditGrid.com. Since I can't post links yet, go to editgrid(dot)com/user/eternalsummer24/MovieCollection

The spreadsheet is open to the public and is editable. I welcome comments, suggestions, anything really. I just really need some guidance here.

Thank you for your time in helping me out.

Hi ES I looked at your list and I see movies with violence like the Terminator movies, some with witchcraft as a theme and vampires? Well I know that GOD hates violence, there is nothing closer to hell than vampire, or witchcraft type movies. I'm not going to tell you to burn them, but let me put it this way... Would you invite JESUS to watch them with you? Pray over the movies and ask HIM which ones you should get rid of. If HE has been dealing with you on your movie collection, keep listening to HIM and be obedient. That's what its all about. Hearing HIS word and obeying.

Hi ES24,

I visited your link but the page was in maintenance and your list was unavailable.

Anyway, it's good to see your response to the the Holy Spirit's leading regarding your movie collection. I've reduced my video collection by the 100s in the last 9 months or so to get rid of all the swearing and violence and other unsavory elements, and I can honestly tell you I don't even miss them (the movies).

The more we feed the flesh, the hungrier the flesh gets, so I just decided I want to starve the flesh and feed the spirit more in the areas of what I watch and listen to. God wants us to pursue righteousness and holiness, and movies with copious swearing, violence, etc. do not glorify or please Him, or edify us.

Some of my movies were really hard to let go of at first - and I am still going through my collection to reconsider some of what I considered to be "iffy" movies - but I'm just glad to no longer be held in bondage to things that were not profitable to me. Who needs it? Hollyweird can keep it!

Hi El Hombre,

Thank you for the input. I definitely have been struggling with the Terminator movies and some others that have an overabundance of violence, maybe that's what the Spirit is tugging at.

I will say that I have prayed over the Harry Potter movies over the years and have never once felt a conviction about them. I know the Bible says that we are not to be participants in witchcraft, but here is my personal take on it, although I could be wrong. It says that we must not have a hint of witchcraft among US, meaning that we cannot participate in it. However, I've never felt that reading or watching a story between good and evil, where good wins, and just happens to exist in a fictional world of magic, to be evil within itself. Christians love movies like The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia, which also have witchcraft, but no one ever says anything about them. What about them? Isn't magic, magic? We have friends of ours who are even more cautious about what they put into their minds and bodies than we are and they love the Harry Potter movies. It's a story about the importance of friendship and love...but it takes place in a fictional magical world, just like Narnia and Lord of the Rings. Because of that, I've never seen anything wrong with Harry Potter.

As far as the Twilight movies go, that's my wife's cup o' tea, I'm personally not a fan, but I don't see it as evil just because it has vampires in it. I think the messaging of the movies are worse than the fact that it has vampires. If they are to be let go, she won't let them go without a fight :) and she's totally convinced that they're not evil as she as prayed over them as well and has felt no conviction. I just don't like the overall message of the movies, myself.

Please note that I'm not trying to justify any of these movies. I wouldn't take the time to put this list together, share it online and then welcome discussion and then justify my movies with stubbornness. I believe in reasoning together, so I welcome ANYTHING that anyone has to say on the subject.

EDIT... can anyone tell me why all the sudden E-sword isn't copy and pasting properly now? Thanks
