I've heard of this one before. There's this one woman I live up the street from, and I think she might be some kind of psychologist in real life, but she also tries to give Bible studies around town, and her and her hub are all hung up on psychology. Not that I'm dissing her, I only knew the couple in passing when their children were little, and child psych is such big business that no one could have missed it, even I know all about it, and I've never even dated.
The dream theme in the Bible is too narrow for a complete theology, but Sigmond Freud did start a trend, and even though he himself was personally and atheist and not friendly to either Jews or Greeks, it really caught on through popularizers who used the sex side of life to start analyzing people's personal lives (marriage and children) religiously.
I've had to really think this through, because most people do get married and have families. and normal parents play with their children, but just because they're playing that doesn't mean that the family's usual spiritual life or its normal house rules are suspended. The problem with "Adam and Eve archetypal psychology" is that first of all if you read it really spiritually, the snake did it. Now that by no means indicates that it does not matter who started it! It matters whether Eve ate first or Adam, and it also matters whether Cain killed Able or Able killed Cain. The fundamental difference is that after the tree fruit affair, they both stayed together (the marriage was no longer quite as happy, but who has a happy marriage anyway) but that when Cain killed Able, that was the end of the relationship.
You can't just say that Adam and Eve colluded and conspired in the fall, they were clearly both taken in by the snake. Archetypal dream psychology is interesting, but people set too much store by it. You aren't the first man, sorry broskii. And your mother wasn't the first woman. Psychology is a joke, people say it's Gwood Fer Displiss round the house, but parents have been beating their kids since before there was a Spain, and anyway, people who practice that silliness forget to carry on to the first murder.
Psychology churches are shallow and dangerous, I avoid such low intelligence company at all costs. I'm sure that dating and marriage are good lifestyle, but the people who engage in such salvations talk are, in my opinion, far too hung up on the glamour of intercourse, and the tax breaks they get for having the kiddiwinks, howbeit usually careful about the mortgage and the checking account.
Dream psychology is extremely dangerous. Power plays in the dating arena and disputes in the context of a marriage are too bad, but I'm not worried about that. I'm far more concerned about not being the Able victim of another murder!
