Heya everyone, I have a peculiar problem, my mind is full of anger and wrath towards my blood brothers, some in particular. Nothing has happened so far, but their lack of respect and hypocrisy are really starting to get to me. I don't want to be a man who hates his own blood, but they don't care for anything, during my father's funeral, one wore a plain white T-shirt and black jeans while the other took pics with his phone. And these are just one of the MANY examples of their actions that cause me to really, REALLY want to beat them to a pulp.

I've tried seeing the world from their perspective and I've only been able to do so rarely, it's like, they don't understand the consequences of their actions.

We're all adults, one still lives with me at home, while the other left and is living on his own, he still comes over uninvited yet DEMANDS that we always call first before visiting him.

In my mind, their association with the word "Brother" is as the equivalent as someone standing in a garage calling themselves "Car."

I'm mostly concerned that I really will do something drastic, and (This is the scariest part of all this) I will perform wrathful actions without a single shred of regret or remorse.

Please help me, I don't want to keep this Wrath within, yet how can I rid myself of it, if the very things that cause it are constant? I've tried talking to them and my words and concerns fall on deaf ears. Please, my brothers and sisters, help me.

Hi Brother Red!! Righteous anger!! You have every right to be angry!! The problem is not the anger you have,my brother, the problem is you have no way to release this, because you do not wish to!

Someone here could say this or that, but in the end,it is up to you bro! When I received Jesus and found out my brother was gay,I to was as you were, the Lord knew how much I hated gays in general, which of course was not right, but the fact remained I did hate them! So now what do I do??

Beat my brother to a pulp?? Which like you would have made my flesh feel better, but sure would have been a very poor example of love that I received from Jesus, who before I was saved sure could have beaten me to a pulp as well!! BUT my brother he did not do that! nor should we!

Because that person we were has died, but sometimes as you know, the devil will come by our house to steal that which we have received!( John 10:10) That as you well know is his nature! But YES!! You must give the anger to someone!! You sure cannot keep it locked inside of you!!

This will only hurt you even more. Anger can cloud sound judgement,so because of this,we must get rid of it as soon as we can. Please first let me show you something interesting brother Red!! (Matt 12:46-50) First those who are not true believers, are not our brothers and sisters!! a shock when i saw this to! So then since they are not!! Then how can you treat them as if they are? You can't! Knowing this helps!! You expect this from non believers. ( 2 Cor 4:4) they are blind to the truth!!

Was jesus ever this angry?? LOL OH MAN!! WAS HE!!! In fact one whole chapter of matthew was given to the anger of the Lord, they are most fortunate they lived during the words he gave them!!( Matt 23!!) Anger can blind a man.( Luke 6:39-41) So my brother, what was I to do?? I had to give this to the Lord!!

Lord you know I am most angry!! And you know Lord I have every right to be angry!! But I want to take on your nature of love,I ask most humbly Lord, to take this anger away,so I might be an example to those who do not know of your love,or of your wonderful grace, the same grace I am so thankful for that you gave unto me, the very least of the brothers in Christ, show them the errors of there ways oh Lord, and protect me from wrath, even as you protected me from your wrath when I was so lost without you amen!

Now Red, build that love in Christ which you have in the Word, and let not your mind be filled with anger ,but rather fill it up with God's Word!! This is what helped me! 2 years the Lord keep me away from my brother, but then I was ready! I went home, for the first time in 2 years! and one year after this, Jesus saved my brother! I made mistakes, but not in love.

This nature my brother we have taken, is for a purpose, not to judge, but rather like Jesus to love, even through righteous anger! I hope this has build you up!! I will be praying for you my brother! ( Colossians 3:14-17)!! Blessing to you!

Hello Red1263.

Thank God your brothers are normal Red1263, for a moment I thought they might be different to everyone else.

I have felt the anger you feel, I have brothers too. They will not behave the way I think they should. But, they do have their own lives to live.

Again and again I have to remove the log from my own eye. Which allows me to see that they see things differently to me. Hence they act differently to me.

Jesus loves them just as much as you and I.

I was wondering if any of you guys had any Bible references I can read into, I was not blessed with finding them on my own :P. So if you guys can share some passages that'll help me in this situation, I'd be grateful!

matt 18:21-35,this is the one that really got my attention Red! matt 6:14-15 notice something here as well!! right after the Lord Prayers saying just how important forgiveness really is. so many but just one more. James 5:15-16 Hope this blesses you Red as they have really!! helped and blessed me! Here is a good start bro.

Just out of curiosity, How are you able to find these passages and verses? Everytime I read the Bible, I am unable to discover one, and think, "This one, or these really say something." I'm not sure if it's just the way I read it, because I was never really taught how to read the bible in search of guidance, I suppose, I'm looking at it like any other book, when I should be looking at it as something more.

Can you offer any advice as to how I can read differently?

Good question bro!! When I started, I would look at Concordance find a topic, and read everything I could about that topic, example love, then when I read a verse I looked also to the side of the page, you know other scriptures that talk about this one verse,or topic.

At first like for you, this was not easy, but the more I did it,LOL the more involved I got,and the more the Lord taught me on any certain subject. It is not how many verses one reads brother, but what Holy Spirit shows each one of us with the verses we do read.

Then one begins to meditate on them, which renews our mind.( rom 12:1-2) I found the more I read of the Word, the more Holy Spirit would give me understanding, for myself,if I was in doubt about anything,I first prayed about it,then through it out to some older brothers and sisters to see there take on it. ( 1 john 2:27)

Yes Red!! NO question!! Holy Spirit will teach each of us! Then I would make a tape recording of me reading scripture,I would listen to this at night, even while I slept. I know this seems a bit to much for most people to do.

But when you truly Love the Word, you will find yourself doing many things other people say,you are a little off. lol mean while,I can help others through God's Word, and when it comes right down to it,they would rather believe what God's Word says, then my view on it!! I know I did!

When you open the Bible it is not a normal book,as you are used to. It reads as supernatural, because my good brother, the words in there came from God himself.men just wrote what he inspired them to write. God did not want mans opinion, he wanted us to read his Holy Word,as Holy, not just words from a book.

To me when I open it,it says thus saith the Lord unto mark, whatever that Word may be.I am not the usual believer, many think I am most odd,and I am most odd,but that is because I do not trust in man's wisdom!( 1 Cor 2:5) Many say but Mark God meant it this way or that way,to me Red he means it as he spoke it!

Some disagree. That is ok,I am responsible to my Lord for me,not others. You know Red there are many kinds of light, some dim, some bright, and some, like the Word of God,a searchlight!! Search the scriptures!!!( john 5:39!!)You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal light; it is these that bear witness of ME. Please read John 5:36-47 for a full impact!

We search Red to believe, and we believe, when we can put these words to life,in our own lives, and when others see this, they come to our Light on the Hill!(Matt 5:13-16) I do this Red,because I Love Jesus, and by loving Jesus, then we love his Word! I hope this helps you understand not only what to do,but why we do it! blessing to you Bro!

Have you tried Biblegateway dot com? My best advice is to read it with an open heart and as though God is trying to teach you what he wants You to understand. Baby steps. :)

Forgive!!!

Dear RED,

There is alot of anger in you which has been repressed over a long period of time. You need emotional healing.

If you are filled with the Holy Spirit then He will help you to recall things that your brothers may have done to you which may have caused alot of hurt. Your part is to forgive them for what they have done in each situation as the Spirit of the LORD leads you.
Some things may also be from last year and so on... but forgive them!

So I encourage you to take time, atleast 3 days or longer to be alone by yourself somewhere and let God deal with you personally and release you from all anger. God loves you RED.
May you always forgive whenever your brothers hurt you and pray for them...

Remember James 1:19

God bless you

All scriptures are God-breathed. It is as if God is speaking directly to you - personally. No wonder the Word differs from the rest of the books in the world. 2 Tim 3:16.
Only the Holy Spirit can open your understanding. So ask God, the Father, to fill you with the Holy Spirit and He will!

God bless you

Good Morning.

Well you could dig a moat and fill it with water, then throw them a life vest when they fall in. Lol!

It is OK to be angry, in fact we are commanded to be angry at times, the thing is we are not to allow it to consume us or to cause us to sin and to not dwell on it. We are to speak up, to talk to others but not let it cause us to sin, or to become miserable ourselves in dealing with it.

How to read the bible, I can help you with this one. This is the reason I do not quote scriptures and the reason I am not normal. Scriptures by themselves have meanings that unless read with the surrounding intent of the message can cause even more confusion.

So how I read the bible is I will have something on my mind and I will ask God to give me understanding of things before I read his word.

You might start by reading the Chapter of Ephesians in its entirety. That will help you understand it is OK to be angry, but to control it and not let it eat you up.

Be aware also that we all have free will, we can choose to do whatever. In a family there will always be those who will not listen, who do not care, and Jesus told us this will be so.

So Ephesians is short, easy to read, after that one move backwards and read the book of Matthew.

I bet you understand after that.

Hope this helps.

Anger: Satan likes this one. He uses it to his advantage at every possible convenience. I used to get angry a lot! I was a wall puncher and object thrower. I yelled a lot too. I was heavily sarcastic about that witch angered me. Today, I am laid back, not easily provoked and gentle. I get the occasional short flare up from something I perceive to be wrong but it never goes anywhere. The worst thing I have done in the past 4 years that I know of is throw a piece of paper.

What happened to change things? Jesus. I truly came to believe in him and began following him. I took one look at how he was able to pick out 12 guys and put up with teaching them for 3 years. Get wrongfully arrested and tried. Be scourged beyond the recognition of a man. Taken out and humiliated in front of the people he came to rule. Taken out and crucified. Chastised by onlookers. And all he had to say was "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". God was in Christ, not imputing our tesspasses against us but rather reconciling us to him.

I have ungodly brothers too. I used to be angry with their sinfulness. Today, I see their end. I know that they are headed for judgment and hell. It makes me sad to think that they will die and be in fiery torment forever. I wish I could save them. Pull the out of the fire with fear. I know that they are just deceived like I once was.

The only true remedy for your hostility is looking unto Jesus. Decide that your relationship with Christ is more important than anything else in your life. Do you believe that he is the righteousness of God manifest in the flesh? No matter how you answer that question the truth is found in your works, what you do. If you believe he is righteous then you will work to follow his righteousness. Every time you sit down to read the bible you are being transformed into the image of Christ, if in fact you believe it. As Paul say in one of the Corinthian epistles, "Test yourself and see if you be in the faith, Know ye not that Christ is in you except you be reprobates?". This whole Christian walk is about having the Lord Jesus Christ living in you by faith. The Holy Spirit bringing up the things that Jesus has said when you need to hear them.

Always remember that John said "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."

We all have to love our brothers, else we are not the children of God.

Peace be unto you, Red1263

My advice to you is my advice in every situation: Read and pray often. The Lord has things to give you, like peace and patience, and you will learn these things with time in prayer and reading the Word. You must make the effort to gain these attributes. Ask the Lord for help with anything that you have problems with and put some effort of your own into achieving them, and you may soon realize that you really aren't having to try as hard to deal with people that are generally hard to deal with. Pray everyday two or even three times, asking the Lord to help you with these things, and it'll happen eventually. He seems to like persistence, so be persistent. The more time you spend in prayer and reading the Word the stronger in Spirit you will be, but when you don't spend time with God in prayer and reading your flesh gets the upper hand. It's a constant battle.

I too used to be an object thrower and wall puncher, and I still thank the Lord for helping me with these things and ask Him to continue helping me to be an honorable vessel fit for the Master's use.
