i respect the gospel music that is out. How could i not, when it was made to glorify God. I'm looking to get into creating a new sound in the christian music world. I'm not exactly sure how and where to start, but I pray and trust that God will direct me. I write music and I sing. I'm looking into finding a vocal trainer to perfect my craft. I also wonder who makes instrumentals, and how do you get into the studio? how much does studio time cost?

You can hire pro session musicians to play the instrumental parts for a set rate that is determined by the American Federation of Musicians (AFM). The type of recording, how much work is performed, geographical location, etc., all impact how much they earn. Or get some competent amateur musicians to do it for whatever fee you can negotiate with them. But always put everything in writing and signed!!

As to how much studio time costs,$200 for a 10 hour day is not uncommon. But of course you can pay more (or less) if you have specific needs, it all depends on what level of production you want. Like any other business there is competition between studios, so use that to your advantage when negotiating a price.

BUT, the best way to go about it is, when you have your songs written and the parts ready to play live, go to a music recording school and get them to record them for you. Many times they will do it for free (or dirt-cheap) to give their students hands-on experience in the recording studio. And your songs will be professionally recorded in a state of the art studio with millions of dollars worth of equipment and you get to take home a pro-produced CD!
Hope this helps!
