I just saw a story on CNN about an organization that wants to build a Noah's Ark theme park in Kentucky, and would include a to scale ark. (built by the Amish even!) and there's a big pond in the middle of it all. The controversy was that they were asking for government grants to help build it which would be about $150 million. The state is actually excited about as it will generate 900 some jobs and tax money coming in, so they consider it an investment, but people argue it goes against separation of church and state and whether or not this is considered a business or a ministry, or a hybrid of the 2. (which people have taken this separation of church and state WAY out of context of what it originally meant, a whole nother story..)

I actually think it looked really cool (except they wanted to include dinosaurs around people which I thought was kinda weird) other than that it looked like it would be a great theme park to have and I think the government should have no problem helping them out at least some, and that it would be a much wiser thing to spend money on then a lot of the other wasteful spending they are doing!

Something on NY Times that I thought was funny.. it said "Facing a rising tide of joblessness, the governor of Kentucky has found one solution: build an ark."

Has anyone else heard this story yet, and if you have, what do you think of it? If you want to read the story just google noah's ark theme park, the NY Times was the first one for me

I live in Boone County, Kentucky, perhaps 50 miles from the proposed site of the Ark Park in Grant County. The Creation Museum, which many also raised a hue and cry against, is close by and still doing business. Incidentally, it was built before the current recession hit when the economic factors were different.

I hope they end up building it. Sounds great, especially if its the biblical scale too. Why not employ the jobless after all?

People will always find something to complain about. Its unfortunate.

That sounds absolutely wonderful. I will be praying for these people that their vision will come to be. It makes me smile just thinking about what they are planning and how it would come to be. This blessed my day.

Besides, I live very close to Kentucky and have gone there for vacation twice already!
