There are passages in the Bible that say we should obey our government.
Rom 13:1; Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
Rom 13:2; Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.
Rom 13:3; For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;
Rom 13:4; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.
Rom 13:5; Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake.
Rom 13:6; For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.
Rom 13:7; Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
There are scriptures in the Bible, I sometimes wish weren't there. However they are there.
Verse 3 caught my eye here. We shouldn't fear rulers if we are doing good behavior. Yet in this country currently good behavior
(even going to church) is punished. Criminals with violent histories and sexual predators are being set free by the governing authorities.
Rioting and vandalism is being endorsed by these same governing authorities.
Verse 4 says God is an avenger who brings wrath on those who practice evil. I wonder if Marvel comics know God is an Avenger?
Verse 5 says for conscience's sake. Honestly, my conscious often tells me to against these authorities in some cases.
So then the question is, should we always be in subjection to them under every circumstance? Should we just blindly obey?
Dan 3:10; "You, O king, have made a decree that every man who hears the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, and bagpipe and all kinds of music, is to fall down and worship the golden image.
Dan 3:11; "But whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire.
Dan 3:12; "There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the administration of the province of Babylon, namely Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. These men, O king, have disregarded you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up."
Dan 3:13; Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and anger gave orders to bring Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego; then these men were brought before the king.
Dan 3:16; Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter.
Dan 3:17; "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
Dan 3:18; "But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."
God rewarded Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, and protected them for not obeying this decree. It seems when man's law oppose God's laws
it's OK to disobey them. Some people have forgotten who they are supposed to be loyal to.
Acts 5:26; Then the captain went along with the officers and proceeded to bring them back without violence (for they were afraid of the people, that they might be stoned).
Acts 5:27; When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them,
Acts 5:28; saying, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us."
Acts 5:29; But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men.
When people are purposely trying to stop the church and the gospel, we should be opposing them, just as Peter did.
There has been a lot of talk about vaccines and the mark. I don't know if there is a correlation or not, but I do know one day the world authority will
want us to bow down and worship him.
Rev 13:12; He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.
Rev 13:14; And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the wound of the sword and has come to life.
I can tell you right now, this is one government decree I will not obey. The Bible seems to say some will be beheaded for resisting this. Are you willing to do this?
The Bible says taking the mark is an unforgivable sin, once you take it, your fate is sealed.
Rev 19:16; And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."
Rev 19:17; Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, "Come, assemble for the great supper of God,
Rev 19:18; so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great."
Rev 19:19; And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
Rev 19:20; And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.
It says one day the kings of earth and their armies will make war against "Him who sat on the horse" (The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords).
Are you going to obey the earthly kings on that day?
There are of course dozens of places in the Bible where people disobeyed the governing rulers. In fact the story of Moses and Pharaoh is really about the
Jews rebelling against Egyptian authority. In the book of Esther we see the same.
Est 3:1; After these events King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and established his authority over all the princes who were with him.
Est 3:2; All the king's servants who were at the king's gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman; for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage.
Est 3:3; Then the king's servants who were at the king's gate said to Mordecai, "Why are you transgressing the king's command?"
So yes, we should obey governing authorities, but not to point we transgress against God's laws and rules.
