Has anyone here seen this movie at the theater yet? It's supposed to be based on the story of Esther. A friend of mine saw the movie and she is very fired up about it.

I was just wondering if anyone else saw it and what you thought about it.

No I have not seen it.

Was drawn by the title relating to the king.......Presley.

Ah yes....my youth........MmMm halcyon days. When we were young. Sorry

I know you will pardon.. God Bless You

No I haven't seen it - I think it's only released in the US. My daughter did see it though and enjoyed it. I have read Tommy Tenney's book on Esther, if it's as good as the book you will like it. :sun:

Apparently it isn't really even close as far as the biblical account goes. As far as a movie I think it is good, but don't watch the film instead of reading the book of Esther because you will get a really distorted view

Yup Yup

Yes, I heard this movie is AWESOME! I'm waiting for it to come to Blockbuster so I can watch it for a lot less LOL. But yes, I heard it's really good and really worth watching. It's about the story of Esther and my friends said it portrayed her story realistically.

No I have not seen the movie, however seeing the commercials and hearing about it, encouraged me to read the book of Esther in my bible, which I have never done :omg: I will watch the movie when I am able to rent it.

I saw the movie. It was a nice story to watch. But it wasn't accurate with what the Bible has said. But for non-believers, I guess it could be something good to watch and understand how God works.

I think it's worth seeing!

I am so ultra-excited!:star: My husband bought the dvd, "One Night With the King" while he was at Wal-Mart today. Yeah! We're going to watch it tonight if our active toddler cooperates. I'll come back in here tomorrow and edit this post by adding what we think of this movie.

Okay! Well, I did watch it, but I didn't hear but half of the conversations between the characters, because Caleb, our son, jibber-jabbered alot and played with loud toys. However, I did enjoy it and will watch it again.

It added a lot of fictitious license. Of course, the movie was written and produced from the Novel, "One Night With the King", not taken directly from the book of Esther in the bible.

The acting was good, especially that of Esther and King Xerxes, the eunuch of the King, and Mordecai.
I enjoyed the action and the beautiful surroundings of the palace. The movie definitely showed that Esther's heart was with the Lord. It depicted her as knowing how to read, (which few females did at that time.) She even recited bible stories about David and the giant, and Jacob and Abraham, to King Xerxes. Of course, that was still adding things---but we can only speculate that Esther probably was taught the Scriptures before her parents died.

I wonder if the movie will show up in China. I will look for DVDs. Interested in the story and the movie.

It's very popular; I hope that it does show up in China. I think you will enjoy it!

good movie

that movie was good because i watch at the church i dont know where they got the movie from but the movie was good i enjoyed it, no matter what ester was a woman who had a heart for God no matter what happen and no matter what the circumstance was she was for God.

but if you look at the beginning of the movie when the king called for his wife to be entertained and she refused and she said i will not defile myself by you, and i thought about that a lot.

how many of us christians compromise with the word of God, we defile ourselves and do not do what God has commanded us to do but hey i think that the movie was great and awesome thanks for bringing it up.

I got the DVD and watched the movie last night. The performance and the dialoge are more like those in drama. I hope to see more direct rendering of mental activities. I think I will watch it again to get more understanding.
There is another movie about religions, Holiness and Godness I love most. I watched it time and time again, at least 10 times until now. The moive is Kingdom of Heaven. Have you ever viewed this movie? What do you think of it?

I saw One Night with the King. There were parts added as I suspected it would but I loved it anyway. Most christian friends who saw it loved it also.

I have the dvd for kingdom of heaven and will be watching it later tonight or tomorrow, so I hope it is good.

God Bless
Alicia
