Hear My Voice

A Psalm of David: “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?”

When we receive Jesus Christ into our hearts and lives to be Savior and Lord of our lives, we should understand that he is absolutely in control of our destiny. Nothing will happen to us but he has allowed it, and he has allowed it for a purpose in our lives, and for his glory. It does not mean we will not ever feel fear (the emotion), but that we have no reason to ever give way to fear to where we allow it to control our lives and our choices in life. Jesus may not rescue us from our circumstances, but he will always be there to bring us safely (spiritually) through them.

Hear my Voice / An Original Work / July 9, 2012

Based off Psalm 27

The Lord is my great salvation.
He’s the stronghold of my life.
When my enemies attack me,
My heart will not fear at all.
Though a war break out against me,
Confident in Christ I’ll be.
Of the Lord, I ask that I may
Live with Him eternally.

Hear my voice, Lord, when I call you.
Merciful to me You’ll be.
Though my relatives forsake me,
My Lord God will receive me.
Teach me Your way, O my Jesus.
Lead me in Your righteousness.
I will sacrifice to my Lord.
I will sing with joyfulness.

I am confident that I will
See the goodness of the Lord.
All the richness of His blessings,
My Lord has for me in store.
He asks me to be of courage;
To be strong and to take heart,
Patiently as I wait for Him,
And from Him to ne’er depart.

Your Heart

When I was inquiring of the Lord as to the lyrics to go with the tune he had given me, I was praying to the Lord, “Show me your heart, Lord. This is not about me. Show me your heart.” And, he did. Yet, he also showed me our hearts, too. Many people in this world don’t know the Lord, and many who profess to know him are not living for him. Some of those are living in rebellion against God, while others are still in bondage to sinful life patterns. The way in which the Lord showed me his heart was to show me how much he loves us, which is why he died for our sins, so that we could go free. And, he is calling out to us to love him, to worship and obey him, to turn from our sins, and to serve him only.

Your Heart / An Original Work / October 24, 2011

Tenderly He speaks, softly so.
Gently He calls - His will to know.
Won’t you invite Him in your heart?
Humbly accept Him now.
Bow before Him with contrite heart.
May you obey His will.
Seek Him with all your heart and soul,
And your heart, His Spirit fill.

Jesus died to free you from sin,
Giving you new life to begin,
Walking with Him ev’ry hour,
Obeying His commands.
Won’t you trust Him to be your Lord?
His grace you can’t afford.
Freely He gives you peace within,
When you turn from all your sin.

Live for Him ev’ry passing day.
Meet with Him; read His word and pray.
Serve Him in the way He leads you,
Doing all that He says.
Do unto others as you would
Have them do unto you.
Love them with Jesus love within you.
Your hearts to God be true.

All glory to God! Thank you so much for these encouraging words. Praise Jesus! This has always been one of my favorite psalms. The Lord has used it in my life many times to encourage me to not be afraid, and to comfort me during times of loneliness or sadness with the comfort of his love and grace. God is so good!

@Sue J Love you have a wonderful gift :)

Emilia, thank you, and all glory to God!

My husband used to tell me I should write songs, and I would answer him, "That is not my gift." I had tried before, and it just wasn't there. Then, one day in April of 2011 I felt the Lord had a song for me to write, so I wrote down the notes I heard, then I asked him if he had words for the tune. He literally poured the words into my mind. I was humbled and moved emotionally that he saw fit to give me this song. Then, later in the day I was working in the kitchen, and I felt impressed to ask him if he had another verse, and again, he just poured the words into my mind, so I wrote them down. I had not written much in the way of music ever, though I had studied music 40 years prior to this, but with what I remembered about writing notes, I then wrote chords to go with the melody. I didn't know if that would be the only song he gave me, but I was so thankful for this gift of song he had given to me.

Then, he began to give me more songs to write, and again, he just poured the words into my mind, and all I did was just write down what he gave me. I knew I was supposed to communicate the songs with the body of Christ, but I had no clue how to do that, so I had to learn how to use music writing software, then recording software, then PowerPoint, and then PPT to video converter software, etc., so it was a learning process. My daughter, who teaches music, taught me about chords, and how to write simple accompaniments to the songs. My son-in-law helped me with better recording techniques. My husband learned how to use the song writing software so he could teach me how to use it. My daughter-in-law taught me how to do a PowerPoint presentation, etc., so I had many helpers along the way to teach me the various things I needed to know to communicate the songs with others.

At some point along the way, the Lord then began to give me scripture passages, and from those he would lead me to the exact words he wanted to go with the music. So, when you say it is a gift, truly it is a gift from God, and not of myself or my own doing, but he is the one who put these tunes and words in my head, and all I did was record them and learn the tools needed to be able to share them. So, I give all the praise to Jesus. And, I thank you, Emilia, for your encouraging words. God bless you! Sue

Search Me, O God

The Lord knows us because he made us. He knit us together in the wombs of our mothers. That means we were born into the families into which we were born, not by mistake, and not by coincidence, nor by an act of nature, but by divine appointment and the will of God. He purposed that we should have the parents we had, even knowing what bad may happen to us, because he has a purpose and a plan for each of our lives. All that we go through in our lives serves a unique purpose in molding us into the people God intends us to be. So, I thank and praise the Lord for how he made me, and that he loved me enough to mold me into someone he could use for his divine will and purposes to bring others to Jesus Christ.

Search Me, O God / An Original Work / July 12, 2012

Based off Psalm 139

O Lord, You search and know me.
You know all that I do.
O Lord, You discern my ways.
I put my trust in You.
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
Where’er I am, You are with me,
Guiding me in love.
O Lord, You search and know me.
You know all that I do.
O Lord, You discern my ways.
I put my trust in You.

O Lord, You made and formed me
In my own mother’s womb.
Your hands beautif’ly made me.
I give my praise to You.
My frame was not hidden from You
When I was made in the dark place.
All the days ordained for me
Were written in Your book.
O Lord, You made and formed me
In my own mother’s womb.
Your hands beautif’ly made me.
I give my praise to You.

O Lord, how precious to me
Are Your thoughts, O my God.
When I wake in the morning,
You are still here with me.
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offense.
Lead me in Your truth.
O Lord, how precious to me
Are Your thoughts, O my God.
When I wake in the morning,
You are still here with me.

Your Life

Paul is giving us instructions from the Lord here on how to live holy lives unto God. We are to set our minds on Christ and on heavenly things, not on the things of this earth. We died, and our lives are now hidden in Christ. Christ is now our life, not just part of our life. We are to put to death the things of our old sin nature. We are not to walk in the ways we once did when we followed the sinful passions and desires of our hearts. We are not to lie to ourselves or to others. Instead we should show kindness and compassion. We should forgive others as Christ has forgiven us. Over all, we are to put on love.

Your Life / An Original Work / October 22, 2011

Based off of Colossians 3:1-17

Set your hearts and minds
On things up above
Where Christ sits with God;
Not on earthly things.
For you died and your life
Is now hidd’n with Christ.
When Christ, who is your life, is seen,
You will be with Him.

Your sins, put to death.
Don’t walk in these ways.
Don’t lie to yourselves
Or to others, too.
Since you have taken off
Your old sinful past;
Put on the new self in Jesus,
Get rid of such things.

Therefore, holy ones,
Put on gentleness;
Kindness; patience, too;
Be compassionate.
Bear with one another;
Forgive others, too.
Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
O’er all, put on love.

Let the peace of Christ
Rule in your hearts now.
You were called to peace.
Be ye so thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell
In you richly now
As you teach and instruct others;
Sing songs unto Christ.

Spoken: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Col. 3:17 NIV 1984).

Here is Your God

This passage in Isaiah 40 is an encouragement to us today to speak to our own people and to the church, proclaiming who God is and all that he has done and desires to do for us. We are not to be afraid of the people, but we are to boldly share aloud the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is our shepherd. He gathers us in his arms and carries us close to his heart. He who created all things, and who sustains all things can take care of us and our circumstances. Our lives are not hidden from God. He knows what we are going through. He has not forgotten us. He will give us the strength and power we need to make it through each day. We just need to trust him with all that is going on in our lives, and he will renew our strength so that we can walk this Christian life and not grow weak, weary or lose heart.

Here is Your God! / An Original Work / July 18, 2012

Based off Isaiah 40:9-31 NIV

You who bring good tidings to Zion,
Lift up your voice; raise with a shout,
And do not be afraid of the people.
Say, “Here is your God!”
See how the Lord God comes now with power.
His arm rules for Him; His reward with Him.
He tends His flock just like a shepherd,
His lambs in His arms.

Do you not know? Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from beginning?
Our Lord sits enthroned above all things.
None to Him compare.
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens.
Who made all of these? Who calls them by name?
Because of His great power and strength,
All accounted for.

Why do you say, “My way is hidden
From the Lord, and my cause forgotten”?
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord, He is your God.
He will not weary. He gives us power.
Those who trust in Him will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings just like eagles;
Walk and do faint not.

Fear Not

I was reading in Philippians 4 following a time of prayer in which I was bringing to the Lord some concerns in my life. And, the Lord encouraged me with the words of that passage of scripture with regard to what I was going through, and with regard to what I was bringing before him in prayer. He had given me a tune the night before, and as I prayed for words to the tune, he reminded me of this passage I had just read. The words fit the tune so perfectly. I believe this is from the Lord, and I pray it will encourage your hearts, too.

Fear Not! / An Original Work / October 20, 2011

Based off of Philippians 4

Rejoice in the Lord!
Gentle be always.
The Lord is near you.
Fear not in all things.
But in ev’rything
By prayer, with thanksgiving,
Share your requests.
God will guard your hearts
With His peace always.

Think about these things:
Whate’er is honest;
Pure and is lovely;
And is praiseworthy.
Whate’er you have learned,
Or you have received, or
You heard from Christ,
Make it your practice.
God will be with you.

I can do all things
Through Him who gives strength.
Whate’er I go through,
Satisfied I’ll be.
My God will meet all
My needs according to
His riches in
Jesus Christ, my Lord.
Praise Him forever!
