Seek the Lord

This passage from Isaiah 55 is an urgent call to come to or to return to the Lord and to be restored to a right relationship with God. The people, evidently, were complacent and settled in their worldliness and wickedness, like some of us may be today. So, God asks us why we waste our money and energies on what will never satisfy us. He counsels us to come to him, and to receive his living water welling up in us unto eternal life, i.e. the Spirit of God, or else to receive spiritual refreshment and renewal.

The call is urgent, because we never know if we have tomorrow. We must turn from our sins, and turn to God via faith in Jesus Christ. God’s word will be fulfilled. He will pardon our sins when we turn from our wickedness, and we experience his grace and mercy. Then he will restore us and will bless us with great spiritual blessings. The return to God will be accompanied by much joy and peace, and will produce much spiritual fruitfulness to the glory of God.

Seek the Lord / An Original Work / July 20, 2012

Based off Isaiah 55

“Come to Me all you who thirst; come to waters.
Listen to Me, and eat what’s good today,
And your soul will delight in richest of fare.
Give ear to Me, and you will live.
I have made an eternal covenant with you.
Wash in the blood of the Lamb.”

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him.
Let the wicked forsake his way, in truth.
Let him turn to the Lord, and he will receive mercy.
Freely, God pardons him.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,”
declares the Lord, our God.

“My word that goes out of My mouth is truthful.
It will not return to Me unfulfilled.
My word will accomplish all that I desire,
And achieve the goal I intend.
You will go in joy, and be led forth in peace.
The mountains will burst into song… before you,
And all of the trees clap their hands.”

Servant of The Lord

We, as followers of Christ, have all been called to be his servants and witnesses in taking the gospel to the ends of the earth, in making disciples (of Christ) of all nations, and in teaching them to obey the commandments of Jesus Christ. We are to serve the Lord with our whole heart and mind. This means we give everything to the Lord, and he doesn’t just get the leftovers. It means our primary purpose and goal in life is to please the Lord and to follow Jesus Christ wherever he leads us – to be set apart (unlike; different) from the world, and to be set apart to God and to his service. This is what it means to be holy.

Servant of the Lord / An Original Work / July 26, 2012

Based off Romans 1:1-17 NIV

Servant of the Lord;
For the gospel you’re set apart.
Promised through the prophets of old:
Jesus, Son of God.
Through Him, and for His name alone,
We receive His grace
To call people, Him to obey;
Coming from their faith.
Servant of the Lord,
For the gospel you’re set apart.
Promised through the prophets of old:
Jesus, Son of God.

You belong to Christ;
Loved by God, and called to be saints;
Serving God with whole heart and mind;
Preaching Jesus Christ;
Always praying for others’ needs;
Helping hand to lend;
Giving courage to others’ faith,
For the praise of God.
You belong to Christ;
Loved by God, and called to be saints;
Serving God with whole heart and mind;
Preaching Jesus Christ.

Servant of the Lord;
Of the gospel, I’m not ashamed;
For salvation, power of God
To those who have faith.
In the gospel find righteousness:
Being right with God.
Turn from sin, and trust Jesus Christ.
By faith, live in Him.
Servant of the Lord;
Of the gospel, I’m not ashamed;
For salvation, power of God
To those who have faith.

Lord, Move Me

10/16/11: I have been reading in Ephesians for my quiet times with the Lord the past few days. The main thing that is standing out to me from this reading is how Paul made such a point to remind the church of how they used to live when they followed the ways of this world and the ruler of the air, Satan, who is now at work in the hearts of those who are disobedient. Yet, he also reminded them of God’s great love and mercy in sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins so we could go free from sin.

He said all this to say, “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” He insisted, in the Lord, that they no longer live in the futility of their thinking, which was darkened in its understanding, and is separated from the life of God. Instead he reminded them that they were to put off the old self, to be transformed in their thinking, and to put on the new self, “created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (see Eph. 4:17-24).

Lord, Move Me / An Original Work / October 16, 2011

Be my desire, my heart set on fire,
Lord, move me to worship You only, I pray.
Fill with Your Spirit, my heart overflow.
Lord, may I long for You; Your word to know.
Teach me to walk with You, Lord, in Your power,
And may I serve You, Lord, right now in this hour.

Lord, how I want to obey You forever.
Help me to hear You, Lord, so I will not stray.
Teach me to love You; adore You always.
Envelope me, Lord, with Your grace today.
Meet me in my need, and show me Your mercy.
Forgive me for all things, as I humbly pray.

Counsel me, lead me, direct me, and guide me,
So I follow You, Lord, where’er You lead now.
I love to hear You speak Your words to me.
I am so grateful that You set me free.
Wash me, and cleanse me, and make me like You, Lord,
And I will live with You for eternity.

A Believer's Prayer

Coming to faith in Jesus Christ means so much more than just Jesus forgiving us of our sins so that we can go to heaven one day. When we trust Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, we give our whole heart and devotion to him to obey him, to forsake our former lives of sin, and to follow him wherever he leads. He said his sheep hear his voice, they listen and they follow him. When we invite Jesus to be our Lord, it means he is now the boss of our lives, but not just the boss of our lives, for he is our very best friend.

A Believer’s Prayer / An Original Work / July 31, 2012

With my whole heart,
Lord, I pray to be Yours,
And Yours always.
Lead me in Your truth today.
May I love You, and obey.
Lead me in Your righteousness.
When I sin, may I confess;
Bow before You when I pray;
Live for You and You always.

Love You, Jesus,
You’re my friend.
Life with You will never end.
You are with me through each day,
Giving love and peace always.
You will ne’er abandon me.
From my sin You set me free.
You died on that cruel tree,
So I’d live eternally.

Soon You’re coming back for me;
From this world to set me free;
Live with You eternally.
Oh, what joy that brings to me.
I will walk with You in white;
A pure bride,
I’ve been made right
By the blood of Jesus Christ;
Pardoned by His sacrifice.

Muted Trumpet

10/14/11: I was reading in Ephesians 1 for my quiet time with the Lord this morning concerning every spiritual blessing we have in Christ Jesus. We are called and predestined to be holy and blameless in Christ Jesus. We were bought back for God via the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross for our sins, and we were forgiven of our sins so that we don’t have to pay the penalty for sin. We were sealed in Christ with the promised Holy Spirit who dwells within our hearts, and who gives us wisdom, revelation, knowledge and understanding of the things of Christ and his word. And, we are included in Christ via faith in Jesus and what he did for us in dying for our sins.

Jesus Christ is calling to his church in a still small voice and with gentle prodding, reminding us of all that he has given us and done for us so that we will wake from our slumber, hear his voice, turn from our sins and follow him with our lives. Will you hear him calling?

Muted Trumpet / An Original Work / October 14, 2011

Softly He speaks gently to us,
Giving us His messages, and
He waits patiently for us to
Respond to His words.
Will you listen to Him speaking?
Will you waken from your sleeping?
He is calling; hear Him whisper
His truth unto you.

Jesus speaks His words unto us,
So that He might live out through us,
Giving light to all who need Him,
So they can obey.
He gave His life to die for us,
So that from sin He would free us
To walk humbly in obedience
Unto Him each day.

Hear the trumpet clearly calling.
He died to keep us from falling.
Won’t you listen; heed His call to
Turn to Him today?
Hasten to Him calling to you.
Turn from sin and follow Jesus.
He loves you so much He gave you
Life eternally.

Glorious Grace

This is a song of praise to God, who is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has blessed those of us who are his with every spiritual blessing in Christ. That means that we have been given all we ever need for every situation in our lives through our faith in Jesus Christ. He is all we need. He has adopted us as his children through Christ, “in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.” Jesus Christ bought us (redeemed) us with his blood, he forgave us our sins, and he lavishes us with his glorious grace! Amen!

Glorious Grace / An Original Work / August 8, 2012

Based off Ephesians 1:3-10 NIV

Praise be to God, the Father of Jesus,
Who has blessed us in heavenly realms.
For He chose us in Him from beginning
To be His holy children of God;
All in accord with His will and pleasure;
To the praise of His glorious grace.

In Jesus Christ we receive forgiveness.
We have redemption through His shed blood.
Glorious grace God freely has given us
In the One He loves and adores;
All in accord with the riches of His grace
Which He pours out on those He loves.

With all His wisdom and understanding,
God has made known His will unto us,
According to His will and good pleasure,
Purposed in Christ till all be fulfilled;
To bring all things on earth and in heaven
Under our Lord Christ; be unified.

Fit for Service

This is a prayer inviting God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – to come within us in power, to cleanse and purify our hearts, to transform us into Christ’s likeness, to anoint us to be Christ’s witnesses, to revive our hearts, to help us to have integrity in all we do, to help us to obey the Lord and to follow his leading, and in all this to make us holy vessels fit for service to the King.

Sometimes in the Christian life we can easily become complacent and comfortable with status quo and not really move forward in our walks with the Lord. Our relationship with him becomes stale, and then we begin to falter and to fall back into sinful ways. So, we need the Lord Jesus to revive our hearts, and to make us holy vessels fit for his service. He wants to cleanse our hearts of us just playing church and/or faking our relationships with Christ, and he wants to make us into honest people who show integrity in all we do and say, so that we are fit for his service, and so he can use us for his purposes and for his glory.

Fit for Service / An Original Work / October 5, 2011

Holy Spirit, come within us.
Cleanse our hearts,
and from sin free us.
Make us holy vessels fit
for service to the King.
Fill us with Your love and power.
Anoint us within this hour
To be living witnesses
For Jesus Christ, our King.
Our praise to Him bring.

Father God, our heart’s desire,
Come and speak to us in power.
Revive our hearts to obey You;
Live for You always.
May we love and serve You only,
Walking with You;
Not a phony.
May we always tell the truth,
And show integrity.
Your true servants be.

Jesus, Savior, sanctify us.
Purify our hearts within us;
Be transformed into Your likeness,
Holy unto You.
May we always listen to You
Speaking Your words
Now within us.
May we heed Your counsel to us;
Follow You today.
Do all that You say.

Trust Him

This is for Christians. It is an encouragement to wait for the Lord, to be of courage, to be strong spiritually, and to take heart when life kicks you hard and/or foes rise up against you to take you down, mainly speaking of our foe Satan. The opposite of fear is trust. This does not mean we will not feel the emotion of fear, but even when shaking in our boots we need to trust the Lord to work out all things for our good. We have to believe that he is absolutely in control over all things and that he will not abandon those who are his own. He is faithful in all he does. We just need to yield to his Lordship over our lives, let him lead, repent of any known sin in our lives, and follow him wherever he leads us, doing what he says.

Trust Him / An Original Work / August 15, 2012

Based off Psalm 27:14

Wait for the Lord; be of courage;
Be strong and take heart today.
Do not fear when foes attack you.
Trust in God always.
He will rescue you in times
Of trouble and distress,
He’ll comfort you in all ways
As you trust Him with your life today.
Trust in Him always.

God is with you; He’ll not leave you.
You can always count on Him.
He will fulfill all He promised
Before you began.
His word teaches you
All that you need for this life.
Let Him lead you. Open your heart;
Let his truth envelope you today.
Listen and obey.

Love your Lord God; follow Jesus.
Repent of your sins today.
Make Him your Lord and your master;
Trust Him and obey.
Follow Him where’er He leads you
In His service; be His witness,
Telling others about Jesus’
Price that He did pay
For your sins always.
