Wow. If America Doesn’t Heed Billy Graham’s Dire Warning, Our Nation is on a Path to Destruction

The Reverend Billy Graham recently warned that America is just as “wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah” and ripe for destruction, unless it turns to prayer and asks for forgiveness, according to the Tea Party.

The commentary was published in the latest issue of Graham’s Decision magazine and actually came from a sermon Graham delivered back in 1962, proving that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

“Even though America is just as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah ever were, and as deserving of the judgment of God, God would spare us if we were earnestly praying, with hearts that had been cleansed and washed by the blood of Christ,” said Rev. Graham.

“The problems of the world will never be settled unless our national leaders go to God in prayer,” he said. “If only they would discover the power and wisdom that there is in reliance upon God, we could soon see the solution to the grave problems that face the world!”

Graham notes that our nation’s Founding Fathers were men of faith who believed in the power of prayer.

“Today the world is being carried on a rushing torrent of history that is sweeping out of control,” said Rev. Graham. “There is but one power available to redeem the course of events, and that is the power of prayer by God-fearing, Christ-believing people. One of the reasons the United Nations has become so ineffective in handling world situations is that there is no prayer, no recognition of God. Unless the leaders of nations turn to God in prayer, their best plans will fail, just as did the plans of those who built the tower of Babel.”

Graham’s sentiments have been echoed by his son, Franklin, as well as Dr. Alveda King, niece of the great Dr. Martin Luther King, who have both called out President Obama, among others, for turning their backs on God.

Graham’s call for prayer to save America is also quite similar to what Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson has been saying.

They are all quite right, in that America, as a whole, has turned away from God and religion. Whether a return to God through prayer will really save our nation at this late hour is up for debate, but it certainly couldn’t make things worse than they already are.

Please share this on Facebook and Twitter if you agree with the Rev. Billy Graham that America has become “wicked” and needs to return to God through prayer in order to save the nation.

Maybe in some ways we are worse than Sodom and Gomorrah.
Matt 10:15; Luke 10:12; Matt 11:24;

Of course it seems homosexuality was the big sin of those cites, but we have that and much more.

No, I do not think that homosexuality was "the big sin" in those cities. It was just one of the many sins of those cities. For which is more evil: consensual homosexuality between two willing people, or attempting to homosexually gang rape a couple of angels ?

I don't think there are "good sins" and "bad sins", I think all sin is equally evil to God.

well, i would agree and disagree. all sin, no matter how small, is a transgression that legally requires sentencing to death and eternal hell. but arent the sins of satan greater than those of john the baptist?

I agree with Billy Graham completely, I think that we ar closer to Chrit's return than ever before. I recently left my Presbyterian church of 35 years because we had become affiliated with the a Presbytery that has voted in and supports Gay Ministers, same sex marriages, womens right to abort babies and more. We have a liberal Pastor that supports these thing and all in the name of God according to him and has been bringing in more liberal style Bible studies. I just had enough and left.
I think my old church is just a microcosim of the main securlar forces that are prevalent in our society. All most all of the brothers and sisters that I left don't agree with me, I think they have their heads in the sand and I still stand by my decision.
I do believe in prayer but I am upset with myself because I am sceptical that praying for the churches revival will do any good. I pray more for God's will...I feel that the return of Christ to call his church is more likely and I am ready and looking forward to it!

I agree with all sins separates us from God, whether big or small in man's eyes, they all condem us. Thanks be to God for Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross!

I hear you. I have begun praying lately these prayers=

"Father, for all those who will accept you, please quicken their acceptance. For all those who You know will not accept you, please just keep them out of our way and prevent them from corrupting us. Please come soon."

and

"I pray that The Holy Spirit will come with great wrath and fury in judgement of all the unbelief and wrong belief, convicting every single person of their sin and false doctrine, so as to give a chance for repentance before it is too late."

I really just hope that God makes it painfully obvious to everyone on earth that faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the ONLY way.

I just pray that many change their unbelief in time either before they die or the Rapture of the church. Their decision to deny Jesus and the Holy Spirit will ultimately be obviously painful for all eternity!

I don't believe that God judges nations in the same way He did in the Old Testament. This is because we now live in the age of grace and God will let things get worse and worse and at the same time use the church to preach the gospel to save the wheat out from the chaff and then Christ will come back and the real judgement will happen then.

There are not many governments or nations on the Earth that recognizes Jesus Christ as its absolute Lord and Savior, and I don't consider the USA one of them. The USA was founded on Christian-deism and not necessarily fundamental evangelical Christianity. God is more concerned with unbelief in Christ than homosexuality. But He doesn't destroy nations because of unbelief - He wants everyone to be saved and given the opportunity to be saved. The real judgement will happen at a future time.

Billy unfortunately, believes that people of any religion can be saved, that having a God and a religion is enough - they don't have to know Christ. The assumption here is that if everyone feels bad enough about homosexuality and turns back to their own God or own religion, God might feel sorry for the present earthly troubles and fix everything and miraculously make the USA the great nation it was (and still is).

However salvation of nations is not really supported by the Bible. God is primarily concerned with saving individuals by them turning to Christ. Also, God's will cannot be changed through prayer - God has a purpose since eternity past, and if we read the Bible we will see that ultimately every human government is on a path to destruction (Rom 3:11-12, Rev 2:27) because that's what God needs to do in order to usher in the Kingdom of Christ. The first human government was established by Nimrod, and the last will be ended and replaced by Christ. God doesn't change His mind (He never makes mistakes), His will is absolute and cannot be changed. Even if every American citizen turned back to God and prayed to Him, the human governments themselves are still going to be overthrown by Christ when He comes back, because human governments will not be required any longer and under the control of anti-Christ they will ultimately end up fighting against Christ.
