Palms and Psalms - Message #504 - April 09, 2006

The Prophet Isaiah cried out on behalf of God. "Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself, the word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness and will not turn back, that to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance" (Isaiah 45:22-23).

The Psalmist exclaimed, "Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; we have blessed you from the house of the Lord" (Psalm 118:26).

Both of these old prophecies came together when Jesus took His final pilgrimage to Jerusalem. "Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road. The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, 'Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!'" (Matthew 21:8-9). The people recognized Jesus. They worshipped Him.

Old and New Testaments converge in Christ. "God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow... and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:10-11).
