Patience with my sister?

Hello everyone.

Every day, my sister (a 5th grader) does multiple things to annoy me. She skips around the house, tells my parents the stupidest things, tries to act older than she is, talks to me in a snotty voice when I tell her to do something (e.g. "You're not my parent")

I pray to God to have patience with her, but no matter what, she keeps on annoying me. I know she isn't really doing anything wrong, I'm just not good with little kids. I know some adults probably get annoyed with me sometimes, as I am only 14, which makes me a hypocrite. But no matter how I try to "reason" myself into excusing her "innocence," so to speak, I always end up mad with her at least once a day.

Your advice? I love her and everything, and I want to show her God's love, but 10 year olds are so annoying:secret:.

Ask her to pray with you, and pray that you both become closer and closer, like friends. Look how many kids God has, think any of us annoy Him?? Nothing shows the love of God like lifting them up in prayer.
 
Do you know the verse "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

Philippians 4:8

Fighting your irritation and annoyance all the time sounds like quite hard work.

Try to focus on your sister's good traits. Make a point of turning your attention to all the things that are good about her. You might just find that her annoying habits grate on you a little less.

Yes your post reminds me......I have been there..... Hang on sister, and keep close to Jesus..........the sun will shine in its own good time....Yes it won't rain always.....God is with you....and His blessing will follow....as you cling to Him

You have a SISTER, wow!!!! even think on that....

I never had one nor will, nor a brother, so think about those who are 'only children' how they'd swop places with you for sure, annoying or not, a sister is a sister, brilliant, though you may not feel that, like Stephen says, it wont always rain.....and hang onto Jesus, its lovely to see that you do by the way, Praise God for your young life, keep close, read and pray much.

Good advice given here, follow it, and see what happens.
 
When my sister was in the fifth grade, I was in the 7th grade and our lives pretty much resembled your situation, only she and I each did our best to aggravate each other and, in so doing, aggravated mom and dad also. Chaos ruled often in our home. But, our family survived the "ordeal". Mom and dad are long dead. My sister is 71 years old now and I'm 73 . We live just a few miles apart and get together often. We're really close and we laugh about the past.

Sports441995, I suspect that your sister's primary goal when you're around is to irritate you because you're so easy to get to. Your anger only throws more gasoline on the fire. The way to win this battle is to stop fighting. If you stop getting upset, she'll stop bugging you because it won't be a challenge anymore; it won't be fun anymore.
