hi there! this is my very first time on this site. I was looking up sites about overcoming depression and i landed up on this site so i registered in the hope of getting help from fellow believers.

i feel so low and i don't know what to do anymore. Getting up out of bed is So difficult. I'm tired of this intense negativity that has penetrated my life. I've tried praying and reading scripture but i feel so disconnected to God. I was born again in 2002 and I've never been faced with a problem like this because I'm usually fired up and so in love with God.

I took a break from school in the hope of trying to fight this but i'm really struggling. please help

Finding Hope, Strength, and Comfort
In Times of Trouble
Alpha Daily News

The Lord's Offer

Come unto Me,
all you who labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me . . .
for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest
unto your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matt 11:28-30)

In Those Times . . .

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all . . . "
Psalm 34:19

"With A Little Faith . . ."

"Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed [distressed],
for the Lord God is with you wherever you go."
(Joshua 1:9)

No matter how alone you might feel now . . .

"He [the Lord] will be with you,
He will not leave you nor forsake you."
(Deut 31:8)

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for he who comes to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
(Hebrews 11:6)

Pray honestly and sincerely seeking the Lord for direction . . .

"I, [the Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go" (Ps 32:8)
"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and delivers them
out of all of their troubles." [It sometimes takes a while]
(Ps 34:17)

"We know that all things work together for good,
to those who love God"
(Rom 8:28)

[Please notice it says all things work together for good (to those who love God) ... even though we may never know the "How?" or "Why?" until we get to Heaven.]

It won't be easy, but no matter how bad things get or how long they last . . .
Trust in God!

"And those whose faith has made them good in God’s sight must live by faith, trusting Him in everything." (Hebrews 10:38 tlb)

"Let your requests be made know to God, with thanksgiving,
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
(Phil 4:6-7)

"If any of you lacks wisdom [concerning your situation], let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting,
for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea
driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man [the one who doubts] suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord"
(James 1:5-7)

We need to let go of the past (including yesterday) . . .

"Forgetting [completely and absolutely] that which lies behind,
and reaching forward to what lies ahead." (Philippians 3:13)

Pray for help to forget the pain, the failures, and the fear from the past. Forget the past glories and achievements. Then move on day by day, in faith, towards the promise of God that lies ahead.

When your heart and mind are troubled . . .

Fix your thoughts on whatever things are true, whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue
and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things."
(Phil 4:8)

Note: Dwell on something good and not on the problem! Dwelling on the problem will only make things worse

"So take a new grip with your tired hands,
stand firm on your shaky legs,
and mark out a straight, smooth path for your feet
so that those who follow you, though weak and lame,
will not fall and hurt themselves, but become strong . . ."
(Hebrews 12:12 tlb)

"With A Little Hope . . ."

"The Angel of the Lord camps around [guards and protects] those who fear Him.
Blessed is the man or woman who trusts in Him." .. (Psalm 34:7,8)

"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
and saves those who have a contrite [humbled] spirit." ... (Psalm 34:18)

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all."
[We are made righteous when we ask Jesus into our lives ...]
(Psalm 34:19)

The road to Heaven is not an easy one as God tests our faith along the way

"Count it all joy when you fall into various trials (difficulties),
knowing that the testing of your faith develops patience.
But let patience have its perfect work,
that you might be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."
(James 1:2-4)

Cling to God's promises during the storms . . .

"Don’t worry [or be anxious] about anything,
but pray about everything . . .with thanksgiving"
(Philippians 4:6 tlb)

Fear nothing but God . . .

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear" ... (2 Timothy 1:7)

Please remember . . .

God loves you more than words can say. He knows the pain and heartbreak we feel ... for He has felt it, too. The Bible says our spirit will someday groan to leave this earthly body. Our real life, in His Kingdom of Heaven, is yet future . . .

"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are
children of God,
and if children, then heirs -- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,
if indeed we suffer with Him"
(Rom 8:16)

Jesus is our Hope .......Trust in Him

I am not one to be in a place of giving much counsel as I myself have dealt with depression over the last 8 months and especially the last two. I accepted Christ in 2004, but never engaged myself in a 2-way based communication until a few days ago. I never really thought it was possible to actually hear God talk, but I now believe it to be true.

The one thing I would encourage you to do is to pray. Tell God about your depression. Tell Him about your hardships lately. Tell Him where your heart is at. Be open. Be honest. Be real.

Next... be willing to listen. If that involves you just sitting silent for 10 minutes, do it (even if you don't hear a word from Him). The point is to tell God that you want to fellowship with Him which means giving Him a chance to talk, just like you get a chance to talk to Him. Listen for His voice.

Here is a good read on the very topic from our admin, Chad. Continue to seek out counsel from others that are Spirit-led. Jesus is the one that can rescue you. We love you and know that the Lord loves you.

I WILL pray for you.

Samke you said you was born again in 2002, so you already have someone greater than you, that is Jesus. Many times with depression negetive thoughts will come your way but they aren't what the Word of God say about you. What you are feeling challenge it with the Word of God?

Sometimes we don't know why we go through some things and difficulties,
but God will be faithful to you Samke. Don't let go of your prayers and reading the Word of God because He will turn this around for your good. Don't let go of your miracle, because even though you might not feel it, God is already providing for you. It just takes one word or one minute to draw you out of despair and be renew. That yearning in you seeking for help is already making a way that God can help you.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that Samke will be encourage in her Spirit and
find peace within her, in the precious name of Jesus.

Your sister in Christ, Trish

just know that things wiLL get better!!i'm praying for you..God Bless You:):)

Samke!!
I've met you b4, you do sound happy to me but I understand your problem. I went thru depression for a year and I decided to do this :

  • SMILE ---- even if you don't feel like it. That does wonders
  • Resist the devil ---- stand on a Word " the things that are impossible with men are possible with God". God is the Greatest and you can lean on Him for anything as His Arms are open wide for you 24 hours .
  • How to resist the devil thats causing you this depression is simple but True:: SPEAK the Word of God and BELIEVE that whichevr verse you spoke WILL come to pass.
This may take a while as you begin to speak the Word of God but remember things start to happen in the spiritual realm before it happens on the natural realm.. STICK to the Word even if the waters have come up to your chin.
This may take a while BUT DON"T GIVE UP!!!!

God BLess you always
He's holding you up.. call out to Him

Prayers!

Hi Samke,
I just prayed for you. I think you maybe under attack from the enemy, the evil one, the devil, satan. Wherever you are, stop whatever you are doing. Sat this: Satan, IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, GET AWAY FROM ME!

I have been attacked by satan, a number of times and have invoked that command, satan has no choice. He cannot stand up to the power of the name of JESUS, he has flee.

He will come back again, he is relentless. So is Jesus, he is always with you!

Depression

Hi: If you have not done so, it would not hurt to see a good doctor (you can ask your priest for a recomendation of a Christian doctor). There are a lot of medical reasons for depression that have nothing to do with a lack of faith. Some of these conditions can be treated with mild medications. I will pray for you and hope that you get better.

Samke: As has been suggested, you may be under demonic attack. Be cautious about talking to others about this. I wouldn't talk openly about it; only to a pastor, a professional Christian counselor (if available), and a couple of trustworthy Christian friends.

Dear Samke,

As one who has had severe depression, I would say worship - praise the King - you need to be near Him at this time - He can give you breakthrough.

Phip 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

God bless,

Yeshualives

Greetings to you dear darling wonderful gorgeous precious apple of God's eye sister,

I stand in perfect agreement with everyone's suggestions, prayers and hopes for you in Jesus name.

I myself am on a generic prozac and am able to cope much much better in every situation. I will be weaned off it in a couple of months, but i needed it due to a chemical imbalance in da brain.

I read of a pastor that went through quite a confusing depression himself and the Lord showed him (after prayer and supplication) that there was indeed a physical condition that needed seeing to, but that satan was abusing and making the most of his physical condition at the same time.

I pray and release the Word in faith over you that, you dear Samke are the head and not the tail, you are above all situations and circumstances and not beneath. Samke has the mind of Christ, Samke has the thoughts of the risen Christ, Samke's prayers and all prayers for her rise before our King as a wonderful smelling incence that He is mighty pleased with. No weapon formed against Samke will prosper, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth i cancel out all the enemy's plots plans and charges made against you, in Jesus name i quiet all voices and sounds calling out lies to you.

Father please anoint your daughter with pure truth, may she see it, know it, recognize it, and may it set her free indeed in Jesus mighty name. Samke you are released to be more than a conqueror, Samke you rule and reign over all circumstances in your life, they do not and cannot reign over you, you are seated with Christ in heavenly places. The joy of the Lord is your strength, Holy Spirit i love you so much, thank you for teaching leading and guiding this prescious creation of the Most High into ALL truth, Holy Spirit i ask you to lead Samke into the joy of the Lord, teach her, show her how to exercise it and obtain it constantly in Jesus mighty name. amen

God bless you all over my sis :friends:
Yours in Christ

Hi Sam - If you've given yourself to the Lord Jesus, do not allow even yourself to thinking it's not real! Our closest enemy is our "old man" (Rom 6:6; Eph 4:22; Col 3:9) which is the sinful nature the believer is still indwelt by, but not ruled by (Rom 6:12, 14), and keep looking for how the Holy Spirit is continually delivering you (Gal 5:17).

The key is "Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you" (1 Pet 5:7). If we retain any cares which may interfere with peace and understanding, it's because we are not trusting Him enough for some reason, which there is no reason and He will eventually show you this and resolve it (unless there is still un-dealt-with sin remaining, which can also be resolved, regardless of what it may be).

God's blessings to your Family!
