Hi There
I’m new to the forums and pretty new to my understanding of Christianity in some parts.
I’m 29 years old and for the past few years I have suffered with OCD – Obsessive Compulsive disorder. My problems all related to the number 13 and doing things in my life for the last time ( for example if I saw a 13 when buying a t shirt of a certain person I would have to buy another T shirt off that same person until I saw another number ). I was very scared of this number
I am pleased to say I have overcome this problem with a few sessions from a local psychologist and my local Church and reverend, which is a Church Of England Church. First of all I hope these forums apply to me if I use a Church Of England Church? and secondondly the reverend really helped me to realise that my problems with numbers were physical and not spiritual, but there are still a few issues that bother me.
It got to the stage with My OCD that I was writing GOD on my arm so if I did something for the last time I would not go to hell. Silly I know but from here on I was convinced that I would go to hell as I was committing Idolatry by writing God on my arm and that after reading Thessalonians 2.2 that I had been allowed to believe a lie.
From here on I started researching on the internet and discovered that in scripture the number 13 is the devils number which made me feel worse and convinced I had received the mark of the beast. For a while I even thought the False Prophet from Revelation 13 might just be a 13 and if I had done something for the last time at 13.00 hours I would have received the mark of the beast! Thankfully I have stopped thinking this but recently something else has started to bother me regarding the Mark of the Beast
I read this from Stewarton Bible School Scotland website
“In the light of these facts, therefore, we cannot help but conclude: that the bogus religious festivals (Sunday, Christmas, Easter etc.) are in reality the Signature of Satan, the Mark of the Beast! “
From here on I have become very worried that If in my life I have worshipped on a Sunday than I would have received the Mark of the Beast. It states that if you use a Sunday as the Sabbath then it is/ will be the Mark of the Beast. Is this true or is the fellow a False Prophet himself? I am also worried as my Job in television requires me to sometimes work Saturdays and Sundays that I again could receive the mark. However as far as I was aware it is the False Prophet who gives the mark and as far as I know no False Prophet has changed the Sabbath days?
I have been reassured from certain articles from got questions website regarding the Sabbath and that there is no requirement for a Christian to use a Sabbath and no where does it say that it is the Mark of the Beast if you do worship on a Sunday or work on a Saturday or a Sunday. I am looking for reassurance that If I have been to church on a Sunday or work at the weekends that I am not going to get the Mark of the Beast. To find the articles from got questions just type Sabbath into the search function
Thank you for reading this, it has been hard for me to write this and hope I can get some peace from my uncertainty
