*Steps up to the podium coughs once ans speaks*

Hi, I'm Tyler and I'm a sinner. I have been a sinner all my life and am lookin' for way to get out. But I doubt myself, and when I doubt myself, I doubt God's ability to change me. I smoke, I swear, and I call myself a "Christian", which I think is pretty messed up. I was raised by a devout Christian, a mother who loves God. She taught me about the Bible and the teachings of our Father in heaven. She gave me hope in a world full of darkness. A world full of distractions. And that's what the problem is... I'm distracted. I need to focus more on God, and improvin' my relationship with him.

Any pointers for a sinner lookin' for remdemption?

Hey Tyler,
sorry to hear you're struggling with the smoking and swearing with the Lord's help you will overcome. unfortunately we will always sin no one's perfect or ever will be but just acknowledging the fact that you struggle with these things and knowing there needs to be a change shows that the Lord is working in your life. I used to beat myself up all the time I felt I had to be perfect, it is something to strive for but when we make a mistake we just need to ask the Lord to forgive us and help us and get right back up again. As Paul had his thorne so shall we have ours Godbless my friend will be praying for you love in Christ

Dear Tyler

It is so good that you are seeking redemption.

Here are some pointers from the word of God:

Firstly Tyler God loves you...and He is seeking to save you. He wants you to come to Him just as you are.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

There is a problem. We are all sinners and sin separates us from God who is perfect

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
Romans 3:23

There is a penalty for sin

For the wages of sin is death.....Romans 6:23

The penalty for sin is death, not only physical death but eternal separation from God in hell.

But the Lord Jesus paid the penalty for all sins when He died on the cross at Calvary

But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us...Romans 5:8

And what is even more wonderful is that it is a free gift offered to all sinners no matter what....

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.....Romans 6:23

All you need to do Tyler is accept the Lord's free gift of salvation by coming to Him in prayer and repentance and asking Him into your heart.
He will forgive you all your sins and you will be saved for eternity.
Your heart will become the home of the Holy Spirit who will be your guide and comfort...throughout your Christian life

He is calling for you now Tyler....knocking at the door of your heart

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.......Rev 3:20

And the Lord Jesus never turns anyone away

...him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out....John 6:37

Dear Tyler,
I will be praying for you.....as you seek the Lord. He is ready to accept you right now. This is the most important descision you will ever make.
He loves you so much and wants you to be His own.

The Get Saved Now section of the forum.....has many threads that would be helpful to you.

The Lord bless you

Julia

Tyler, I love your post! Glory to God!

You answered your own question!

Seek God! He is looking for you, so the only question is, will you look for Him?

Psa 53:2 God looks down from heaven on the children of man to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.

Pro 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Sorry to hear that your struggling, but don't feel alone because we all do. I have been down that kind of road before.... swearing, cutting, listening to innapropriate music, and it almost got much worse. and....the whole time I called myself a Christian. I also was raised in a Christian family. Dont feel bad the Bible says "All of us have becme like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags...." (Isaiah 64:6) The cool part is that Jesus has left us the Holy Spirit to guide us. It is easy to feel like youre drowning in the world. My advice for that, is to eliminate any music, movies, or influences that are not of God. If you aren't sure...ask the people on talk jesus and well find some scripture for you. Read God's word, pray AND listen to him, if you don't go to church already I highly reccommend it. It an be difficult to stay free from sin, but you feel so much better when you release some of the worldly things that hold you down, away from a relationship with God. As you do things, ask yourself "would I be ashamed to do this if Jesus was standing right next to me?" if the answer is yes, force yourself to stop and repent. Sometimes, (as in my case) it's best to talk to someone like a pastor or a good CHristian leader, and rededicate your life to Christ, (or for the 1st time). A fresh start is the perfect thing. Talk to a Christian leader; they can help lead you back to where you need to be. You'll feel so much better and more joyful. I know I do. I wish the best.
