I am starting this thread in hope that others would be honest and add to it.

Things we all can either change about our OWN replying methods or just good wholesome ideas.

For Example

The Lord has brought to my attention that I tend to skim through threads and when a post grabs my attention I begin to reply.

The problem there that I was shown is, at that time I have no idea if what I am replying to is ALREADY off topic and in the end I am simply keeping the off topic part going.

And for this I do Apologise.

@Br. Bear I would like to hear your input on this.

Blessings to you

What a great thread Jim me I am perfect so I cant add nothing :)

my list is far to long, I know the main thing the Lord has shown me is its ok when people disagree, dont get emotional over it. that is a work in progress for me

@Wired 4 Fishen

Consider the other side of it. I also skim a lot because I have a long busy day. I have obligations outside the computer and on two other Christian forums I attend regularly. If I were to try to read all of the posts on all of the forums, I would not have time to spend necessary time alone with God or to attend to the needs of others as they are put before me. So I skim and I pray. I believe that sometimes then God catches my attention for a particular post or a particular person. When He does He also provides what is needed to accomplish what He desires of me. Sporadic, scatterbrained... or led by the Holy Spirit?

Don't put yourself down too harshly. Simply stay always close to God and listening for His direction, be it on this forum or elsewhere. We don't always know where God wants us, but He always does.

"He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Rom 10:17

I skim posts, ignore longer posts, avoid posting when it would take too long to post a reply. I have very poor vision (even with glasses). I protect my eyes by avoiding eye strain. Changing prescriptions wont help, tried, no go. Its either dry eyes or macular degeneration. If its just dry eyes, I could try eye drops more often, but I dont like to put anything into my eyes, I had to give up on contacts because of how hard it is for me to put them in. I miss mostly when I try it (flinching), and when my wife does it, it takes quite a while, and I hate to waste my time and hers. Sooooo, if God (hint, hint) were to heal my eyes, that would be great.

Sure I got faith. I got faith that God will use me like I want Him to in the best way possible. I dont have the gift of healing, Yet God tells me His grace is sufficient. Do you believe that God heals all infirmities no matter what?

Hi Brad,
I would enjoy digging into this deeper with the Word of God.
If you would be interested, why not start another new thread and start it with what you have written above.

Looking forward to some good ol fellowship one with another.
Blessings to you

Greetings Jim,

thank you for your invitation to join in.

The thought that first comes to mind is the question....

why am I a Member here at TalkJesus?
If we can honestly consider this, quietly over the next day or two, we might find that our whole approach and therefore 'habit' of posting may be somewhat transformed.

If we add to this, what are the values of being Members here at TalkJesus? we will better be able to reflect upon the privileges we have here, thanks to Chad, our founder and administrator, who has nearly totally single-handedly kept TalkJesus going despite all the personal trials that he, like all of us, face and have faced over the years.

When we begin to consider these things in the Light of being Christian Brothers and Sisters, we must by virtue of such questions, come to a conclusion of our personal purpose and intent. From there, we will post accordingly.

I don't think I need to re-write the teaching we have in the Scripture about Charity in order for anyone to understand our each individual part either here or offline (or for those on other forums etc) in interacting and communication the message of Jesus Christ to both each other and also for those who are guests.

So, whether we skim with good vision or bad, or not, let us prayerfully post in peace, God's Peace in Christ the Lord,

Bless you ....><>

I have very poor vision (even with glasses)

Greetings Brad,

rather pesty isn't it! I bought some cheap +4 and +6 strength reading /magnifying glasses which freed up one of my hands from using a large magnifying glass.
As I can spend hours here sometimes, I often get severe head ache, which is not much fun.
I like amadeus2's font size. I keep telling myself that i ought to see if i can make a default setting here for my posts, but usually get side-tracked and forget to do it. As it is, my computer has larger default settings for font along with the browser settings. Helps a bit. The old system I use has a largish screen (monitor) but a bigger one would be better, most days.
I train myself in echo-location at times to cover for any long term eyesight issues that could arise, which might seem a pathetic leap of faith but until healing manifests in this area, I still would prefer to be able to be able to get around without needing to cling to someone's arm and trust they are looking both ways when crossing the road!!

I shall remember your need regarding your vision, Brad.
It would be good if we could all bog down one day and get praying more earnestly for one another for some of these things.... which is why we need to remember what it is we have been called to and Who it is that has called us, and forget being better or smarter or more righteous or most liked or agreeable, about having the last say or any other such dividing 'habit' that we can so easily be beset by when we forget from whence we came and how wonderful our redemption truly is.

Bless you ....><>

perhaps we should call you Skim Jim !!!
not sure what we'd call Brad! - and then, there's amadeus2 too...
skimmers the lot of you.

Bless you ....><>
Ouch !! I did not know I could laugh this hard. Now how do I stop?
Thanks Bro!!
Blessings to you

Long ago I got into the habit of making my font size large enough that it was comfortable for me presuming that it would be helpful for others who have similar difficulties to myself and Brad.

For anyone who did not already know it an easy way to change the size of what is showing on your monitor is to simply hold down the control [ctrl] key while simultaneous tapping the "+" or the "-" key. Each tap on the "+" key increases the size and each tap of the "-" key decreases the size.

@amadeus2 this is great thanks for sharing I have a elderly freind who eyes have recently become much worst and she is not longer able to be on line to read anything. Hopefully this will help. Also what are your thoughts on a larger screen???

this looks to be a great tool, many many thanks

thanks

@Dave M
Another way to enlarge or make smaller is if you have a scroll wheel on your mouse. Hold "ctrl" control key and scroll the wheel forward or backwards and it will control the size as well. Just another twist on what brother Amadeus mentioned.

To me larger screens can be an assistance. My son actually has his PC connected to his TV which acts as his monitor as well. Rather large flat screen TV (45") at that. So, size of characters isn't an issue for him, but then again he sees well enough on his regular monitor!!! :-) However, if my eyes do get worse then they are, I'll have that option available. I believe he goes serial port on the PC to serial port on the TV to make it work.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Well I have a 20" screen, but the space where it fits on my desk could handle a larger size. If and when I replace my present desktop, I will probably look into a larger screen presuming the price is not too high. When I occasionally use my laptop, which is a bit smaller it takes some adjustment on my part. For someone with more severe seeing problems it of course could be a good thing.

Yes attaching it to a larger TV screen is a good idea. I have thousands of pictures taken over the years in my computers. We live in a semi-gated community and once in a while I will put on a slide show for the older folks consisting of pictures I've taken of them and others who have gone on to meet the Lord. When I do I simply attach a special cord I bought for that purpose between the computer and the TV. We use the community's clubhouse TV which is much bigger than the one I have at home. I operate the computer controls as usual, but even one legally blind lady was able to see the images on that large screen.

Give God the glory!

another two bob....

different fonts can help.
Here we have a few to choose from. When writing your post you will notice an A button at the top of your draft. You can choose different fonts if you prefer and it makes it easier for you to see what you are writing.

This is Veranda
This is Trebuchet MS
This is New Times Roman
This is Tahoma
This is Georgia
This is Courier New
This is Book Antiqua
This is Arial

You can also set your default font and size through your computer preferences department. I can't remember off hand what each Operating System call that department but I am sure you can find out easily enough.
I think you can also choose different fonts and sizes in your Browser (the browsers are different like Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, etc...)

have fun!
have lots of fun
Have lots of lots of fun...
