I'm not a theologian, but, it seems to me that postmodernism flowed into the void that was left where the cares of the world pushed Jesus out. I say "where" because I don't believe the entire church has fallen into this trap.
"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me." (Is 29:13 NIV) Jesus cited this scripture when He scolded the Pharisees in Matthew 15.I do not hesitate to say that the majority of professing Christians (especially in the western world) of the 21st century are like the Pharisees of the first century. On the Day of Judgement He will say to them, "Depart from me you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." (Mt 25:41 NIV).
