Pray for my mother and step father

I recently found out my mother has started smoking cigarettes. I worry that this will cause lung cancer or something else. She already has a smokers cough. I’ve expressed my worry but she still hasn’t quit. We have argued and I have offered alternatives and I’m afraid she’s just telling me what I want to hear so I’ll leave her alone.
My step father is a really bad smoker going through packs a day. If he doesn’t quit I feel like she won’t either.
Please pray for them and give them strength.
Please pray for me because I’m not sure what I would do without my mother.

Greetings @AnonymouslyMe

Smoking is addictive and can be hard to break from, any addiction is hard to break, but it does need the person to want to break the habit, will she speak with her doctor?

Your love for your mum is very clear, your concerns are from the heart that is also clear, prayers are needed for your mum and your step dad, prayers are assured for them and for you too.

Keep praying to God, through Jesus Christ, all prayers must be prayed through Jesus who died for our sins, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him.

Talk to your mum when you can, but don't argue that just raises barriers, we pray God's peace over you. I feel your mum may have returned to smoking as she is with a smoker, it is often the case, though not always, other situations, stress and coping with life's issues can also cause it. So talk gently with her, only when you feel it is right to do so, let her know your concerns in a loving way. Let God's love shine through, it cannot do so if you argue.

Thank you for sharing your heart felt concerns so that we can join you in prayer, for your mum, your step dad and yourself. Please do update us and if your prayer request changes also just let us know.

Jesus loves you, we do too.

Bless you, take care.

We continue in prayer for you, your mum and your step dad.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Bless you
