We have just received word that the seven opposition parties that have been demonstrating against the king of Nepal have called off their nationwide strike after the king promised to re-open parliament and form a democratic government.
Now all eyes are on the Maoist rebels, who have rejected the agreement.
The Himalayan kingdom had descended into widespread violence as the king tried to keep control after the nation turned against him for taking direct control of the government and dissolving parliament.
No one is sure what will come next, but this is definitely a time for all of us to be in prayer for that nation--and for its believers and churches in particular.
Narayan Sharma, our country leader in Nepal, has been forced to temporarily close the Gospel for Asia office in Kathmandu because of the situation, and native missionary outreach work has been seriously affected.
"It looks like the whole country is under fire," Narayan wrote in an earlier email to our U.S. office. "Hundreds of people have been injured and a few have already died of bullet wounds. Some are still in critical condition in hospitals.
"Huge crowds of 200,000 are seen on the streets. People from all walks of life are on the streets shouting slogans against the King and demanding full democracy."

Please be in continuous prayer for Brother Narayan, the believers of Nepal, and for the peace of the entire nation. And pray that God will continue to guard them and strengthen them for whatever lies ahead.
Thank you for being a prayer warrior in God's kingdom. May He bless you as you continue in your walk with Him.
