The majority of Christianity today assumes that just because they have met certain terms and conditions for salvation, or met the qualification for church membership according to their local church pastor, that they are the Bride of Christ and will automatically be granted a free ticket to the marriage of the Lamb. However the Bible sort of says the opposite:
Note carefully
Rev 19:7 "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."
How do we prepare ourselves? The next verse gives the answer:
Rev 19:8 It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints
Rev 14:13 "Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.""
Was there ever a bride who did not prepare for her wedding day? To believe in Christ is like getting engaged, however even an engaged woman still has to prepare herself for her wedding. No preparation, no wedding.
Just because one is a believer in Christ and clothed with Christ for salvation, does not automatically grant one a free pass to the wedding.
This is also illustrated in Matt 22:1-14, where there is a man invited to the wedding (salvation), is then found at the wedding without wedding garment - this man could be a believer with no righteous acts. Also compare with the story of the talents (Matt 25:14-30). The one without any works to show is thrown out.
