I was reading in Amos and the Lord livened this verse to me as akin to the present day church (in general).
Amos 6:8
The Lord has sworn by Himself, the Lord God of hosts has declared:
"I loathe the arrogance of Jacob, and detest his citadels; Therefore I will deliver up the city and all it contains."
The Lord loathes the arrogance of his children. Love the Lord first and show kindness to your fellow man as well, and the Lord shall lift you up.
