I would like to take a look at Psalm 139:7, (Because that has kind of hit me hard, especially, after these past few months! }
"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your Presence?" (NIV)
Haven't we all at one time or another tried to do our very best to hide from the Lord? But there is much more than just physical hiding.
Hiding can take many forms: whether from drowning your sorrows in drugs or alcohol, imersing your self in pornography, or improper sexual behavior, just to mention a few.
Hiding from God involves anything that will take the place in your heart, when Scripture clearly states that that spot MUST & can only be filled by the Holy Spirit! It is what is commonly known as the "God-shaped" vaccum.
Jesus MUST be number 1 in our lives, or else we are asking for trouble! Look at what our Lord Himself says in Luke 9:62: "No one who puts his hand to the plow, & looks back is fit for service in the Kingdom of God."
Plows are designed to only go in one direction-FOREWARD! You didn't, indeed COULDN'T, go any other direction, except swerving to the left or the right.
But what happens when we stray from the path of Righteousness? Proverbs 21:16 STATES-"A man who strays from the path of understanding, comes to rest in the company of the dead."
And that, my beloved Brothers & Sisters, is EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS when we DO stray from the path that our Savior has chosen for each one of us-we become "spiritually" dead!
The difference between those of us who are Believers, & non-Believers, is that non-Believers have no one to turn to-so they seek every kind of diversion that they can, in an ultimatlly futile attempt to fill that hole that we who are saved & washed in the Blood of Jesus, KNOW, can only be filled by turning to our Lord, for forgivness!
If there is one truth in Christians, is that Satan can & WILL grab onto the smallest thing to sneak into our lives, & very sucesfully destroy the Believers witness for Jesus! It has happened to ALL OF US more than we would care to admit!
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we see time & time again, how weak we truely are in our Christian walk. It hurts us even more, because when we do slip & fall, we turn our backs on Your Son, who shed His Blood for each of us, so that we WOULDN'T have to go through all the pain that we DO! We are weak, Heavenly Father, but we know that You ARE able to lift us up, even though it is time after time, no matter WHAT our situation is! We turn to You & You alone, Heavenly Father! We turn to You & You alone, Lord Jesus! We turn to You & You alone, Holy Spirit! We turn to You & You alone, Three-In-One!. We confess all sin & disbelief before You, asking for forgivness, in the All-Powerful Name of the One who died that we may TRUELY live, no matter HOW MANY times we may fall! We praise You, Lord Jesus, that through You & You alone, we can find the fufillment that You & You alone can provide. We praise You, Lord Jesus! We praise You! For it is You Name & Your name ALONE do we pray! And all God's Children said: & !
