Over the years there have been many arguments over an existance referred to as Purgatory. Even the Catholics have limited understanding of such a place.

But if we are to understand the fullness of God's grace and mercy, then we have to understand that God's love for us extends beyond life on earth.

To be with God the Father means, you have to be perfect as God is perfect. Without sin.

If it is only to know Jesus is God, then all the fallen Angel's would also still be in Heaven. As they certainly Know who Jesus is. (All knees shall bend at the Name of Jesus)

God understands we humans do dumb things. Strive to please God our whole lives, and yet are upset, angered, unforgiving, to one person, family, hateful to catholics, and many other things that separate us from God. Things we do not think about.

God Sees All.

There is a huge difference between those going to heaven, and those going to hell.

Those going to hell have NO LOVE, as Lucifer rejected God (who is Love)

Simply put, those with Love in thier heart, even with a lifetime of failure. (Prodical Son) God loves.

and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanseth us from all sin. The belief in purgatory negates the blood....

Bill I will never ever badmouth your beliefs but why would such a place be necessary if the blood washes us clean?

When you first accept Jesus as Lord, the sins of your past are negated. But as a human, we still sin. We still swear, we still do dumb things.

Not all are blessed to say with thier dying breath, "Lord Forgive me. Wash me in your blood"

As you know, we must be perfect, sinless to enter heaven. Purgatory is God's great mercy.

You spend a lifetime striving to be just in the eyes of God. Then in some crazy moment you sin and die. Are you going to tell me, this person who was so close, tripped over his own shoelaces. And now can not go because of one dumb thing.

I know God well enough, when He sees that, He rolls His eyes. But He does not forsake you. He wants your soul to be perfect.

Another thing you are forgetting, are those who Paul talks of, " those who do not know the Law, but are lead by reason to do the Law" these people will also be saved.

Even if a person claims to be a pagan, a Hindu, a Muslim, whatever they call themselves. If this person has God's love in thier heart, they will be in Heaven too.

Jesus states, you must eat the body and drink the blood to have eternal life within you. The Catholics recieve the Eucharist. Does God think everyone understands this? Of course not. But what others do not understand, God does. So i will tell you, when you recieve the Word into your heart, it is the same as recieving the Body and Blood of Jesus. And when a person, who never hears the scripture with his ears, but has the Love of Jesus in thier heart, have already recieved the Body and Blood of Jesus.

Even thought we can recieve Jesus both in the Spirit, Word and Flesh. Still we sin in our humanity, our foolishness.

Silliness over arguements, " We know God, You Do Not" , God loves me, not you. One person will be perfect in his faith, and distain his bother ( a catholic , or the other way around) there are so many things that keep us from being Holy with the Father.

Even if you feel none of this is for yourself, at least be happy Purgatory exists for those many who do not die in Holiness, in perfection.

1 John 1:9 IF you will confess your sin, HE is faithful and just to forgive you your sin and cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness.

I'm sorry my good friend....I see nothing in the bible about purgatory

It is just a word that is used to explain it, yet God's mercy is written all through the writings of Paul.

You do not understand because when you see 1 John 1:9 to you, in your mind you are thinking to confess with your lips. When i read that phrase, the Spirit is saying to confess with your heart.

You can scream to the mountain tops that Jesus is Lord. But if you turn away from God in your heart, your words are meaningless.

When I left the Roman church many years ago, I read a book by a priest who was ordained in 1819. He tells a lot about his experiences in the Roman church. You may be interested in reading it. "Fifty Years in the Church of Rome" by Charles Chiniquy. I found it very informative...you can find it in pdf format for free online...
I love the Catholic people so I share this book.
