PURPOSE DRIVEN CHURCH

So just what is your purpose on earth as a believer in Jesus Christ? In Acts chapter 2 we read about the practices and purposes of the early church. "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles... Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need... And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." Do you see it? Read it again. Herein lies the purpose driven life.

All 5 purposes are stated in that Scripture. WORSHIP was in response to God's awesome power in their midst. FELLOWSHIP was a priority along with meals and prayer. DISCIPLESHIP was evident in their devotion to the apostles' teaching. SERVICE was lived out as they sold their possessions and gave to those in need. And EVANGELISM happened daily as new believers were added to their numbers. So what can you learn from this? How does this apply to you? 1. God wants you to be a magnifier of His Name - Worship. 2. God wants you to be a member of His Family - Fellowship. 3. God wants you to be a model of His Character - Discipleship. 4. God wants you to be a minister of His Grace - Service. 5. God wants you to be a messenger of His Love - Evangelism. These are God's purposes for your life. As a Christian you must: Live on His Power; Live with His People; Live by His Principles; Live out His Profession; and Live for His Purpose. God be with you as you live for Jesus...

Excellent devotional sister thank you for sharing this!

I think its rather sad that many "believers" sit on their couches generally speaking just waiting for death or coming of the Lord. They have no activity in them, therefore lacking fellowship and evangelism right of the bat.

We need to go out there and stop wasting time! Otherwise, are we not being selfish?
