Why is it that many feel as though they need a person to teach them the Word..

N why do so many try to memorize the Word??

I'm curious to the responses

A true Christian understands that their full-time job is being an ambassador for Jesus 2 Cor 5:20.

As such we must be like little children that absorb information from all sources and correctly, from a clear conscience, share it with the lost.

In addition, if we do not consider what others believe, or ourselves know and be convinced of scriptures accuracy and truthfulness (from studying it), how can we help anyone?

ooh yea

I know that the Bible is a very large book, something like around 807,370 words

there are allot of historical events and organizations whom have sprung up and defined the way we think about the Bible. Every few decades there is a new modern version that is intended to update and make it easier and simpler to understand, also, in addition these translations are Copyrighted Materials and have fines and fees for breaking Copyright Laws.

there have been many, many disputes and violent upheavals concerning the Bible.
it is a 100 % miracle that the Bible still is around today
GOD IS IN CHARGE OF PRESERVING HIS WORD - Man is a complete failure, I am a failure

The entire idea
and concept of a Completed Bible translation moving beyond the ancient Latin and Greek and into a modern real-time world language - this concept and idea - this is a total and a freak accident.

A mistake - a mistake that suddenly accidentally just happened to accidentally occurred behind all of our backs . we never intended to preserve Gods word - God did it all and has control.

Dear Sister,
Good questions to ponder on.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Ephesians 6:17 NKJV

We look to Jesus as an example, and though there a few different ones, I believe this one goes along with the above verse in Ephesians that talks of the Amour of God.

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." 4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "

5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over you,' and, 'In [their] hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.' " 7 Jesus said to him, "It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.' "

8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." 10 Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' " 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Matthew 4:1-11 NKJV

As far as needing someone to teach one the word of God. Folks see themselves as always being insufficient to the task, while never trusting that the Holy Spirit will open understanding to them. While also of the belief that others have a greater understanding/insight than they do.

However, on the flip side, it's not too bad to hear from brothers & sisters in Christ Jesus who may be more knowledgeable or further along in their walk with the Lord then you are, and thereby you can weight/test what they say against what you see in the Word for yourself. Just don't use listening of others for an excuse to not go into the Word yourself!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Nick, you'll never understand what this verse means unless you realize that Word of God does not mean the Bible in this verse.

And this pretty much speaks to the OP. People use their own uninformed brain to read poor English translations and then come up with their own meanings and all sorts of fantasies.

There are two separate Greek words (as I've often mentioned) RHEMA and LOGOS that are both translated into WORD, thereby confusing everybody by conflating two separate concepts. It's rather insidious.

3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." 4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "
But that has to come from the mouth of God, and a book is not the mouth of God. God is God. The Bible is not God. (People seem to forget this.)

Just don't use listening of others for an excuse to not go into the Word yourself!
As long as you have the Right one...

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
(Acts 8:26-31 KJV)

I'd have to disagree here one Teacher One Good

I know what I absorbed from the world wasn't nothing good..

I learned how to do lots of evil from the World only The Word was able to bring me into the Truth and He pulled me aside and put me in His rest and allow me to see the Truth..
