Question on prayer

I have been wondering this lately. If God has a plan for all of us why do we pray? Us praying things like "Lord please heal my friend" wont change whats already going to happen. I do know that prayer is mostly purposed to talk to God. To praise him and confess our sins. But what about when we are asking for something (Not in a selfish way like "I want money"). Anything we ask is already determined in his plan. Thank you for any answers you can give me.

Part of God's plan is us and what we must do or be in order to be included in the best part of His plan. Obedience is a special part that the first man Adam and Eve failed at the first...

Why do we need to communicate with God when He knows everything? That is part of the obedience, but as to the precise reasons why...? Consider this:

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." I Cor 2:9-10

God is preparing us not just for this temporary life in the flesh, but for something very much more. He is showing us a very small dimly lit part of the big picture, but who can see it clearly now?

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." I Cor 13:12
