Hello, I am new to this site... My name is Mercedes.... Anyway down to my question ....

1) How can I be invovled with evil people and still call out the greatness in them?

2) Also Is there a time when it is wrong to show people the glory that God has hidden in them?

I got this new book and it is actually for a group thing. these were the group discussion stuff.... Thank you!!

Hi there, I'm pretty new here too.

First, I would say to make a very clear distinction between people and evil. The enemy is evil, people have hope. People aren't evil without the enemy. If you want to call the good out in people, you have to properly name the evil. Don't confuse it with the person.

Second, I don't know if there is a time when it's actually wrong to try and show people God's glory, but I do believe there are times when we are called to hold back and use restraint. It shows respect for those we are talking to, and sometimes we can offend people by going on about God's glory if they are not open to it. We can create distance, rather than insight. Maybe praying for the gift of prophesy, the ability to speak to one's heart guided by God, would be useful. And to remember that God is control of opening hearts to him. Somethings are beyond out power, and prayer is best? This is just a conversation here, right? I'm not giving answers.

Maybe how we treat people is the most effective way of showing them God's glory hidden in them. If we treat them like they are loved by God, which they are, they might be able to understand and see this in themselves. I don't see how that can ever be wrong. Love and compassion are infectious.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this thread progresses. Good questions.

hello, thanks so much for the respond... I agree to what you are saying.... I got this book by Kris Vallotton, it is called Basic Training for the Prophetic Ministry... Those were the questions for the group discussion thing... I don't have a group that I am reading this book with so, I figured a forum would be great... Thanks!!

I don't think you need be involved as such, but associate like Jesus did.

He saw the need of the Samaritan Woman, and sought her out, gave her the massage of hope, but wasn't involved with her sin.
Gods word says if we had that attitude to never associate, we would have to come out of the world.....John 17:15
(Seems there is one more vrs. that I cant remember where it is.....sorry)

Yet he sent us into the world to preach the gospel.

I'd like to ask, What is the name of the book you will be studying?
Maybe that would help answer the question better?

A book by Kris Vallotton, it is called Basic Training for the Prophetic Ministry....

Thank you, I have never heard of it, but will look it up on the net.

Both comments you made are not familiar to me either......
Call out the greatness in them?
Or the glory hidden in them?

The Bible teaches that in us there is No good thing, so this too is confusing.

In Christ, our only goodness is His righteouness, not ours.

Bare with me, as I try to understand, OK?

I'll sign off for now, and see if I can find the book you mentioned.
Thanks.

My first impression after looking at the book, or what I could see of the book, is be careful!

The spiritual gifts are given by the Holy Spirit, as He wills, and not out of a book written by man.
You cannot learn spiritual gifts, they are freely given by God alone.
1Cor. 12:1-11

This would be a good start in your reading to gain wisdom ,and understanding of spiritual gifts......OK? And God bless you as you desire to grow in him.

hello!

i dont know how do you define evil, is that bad behaving? talking evil?

Jesus says that there is no one good except God. we all fall short. (Rom 3:23)

this is also what the Bible says (for your study):

Luk 6:45 KJVA A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

also note:
In us is nothing good (Rom 7:18) but because we have given the holy spirit we Love each other (1Jn 4:7)

so some bible verses there :)

God bless you and teach you how to be like Jesus

Well, Websters says it this way.....
base...morally bad, or wrong, wicked, conduct regarded as immoral ,etc.
But the Bible says anything without faith is sin. So you see we have no way to be righteous in this flesh apart from faith in God, putting on His righteousness, by faith alone.

I would encourage Mercedes to go to the Lord, in prayer, and ask for her gift to become evident, for we each have one, given by the Holy Spirit at our conversion, then serve in it as God allows.
Dont try to do it in your own strength, but Christ in you.
He loves you so much, he will make himself known if you seek him, and trust him.
Its all about him,you know, and to his glory, not ours. :friends:

Hello guy's thanks so much for the feed back.... God has already revealed to me that my gift is prophesy, that's why I got the book to learn more about it....

The thing about there is no good in us, I agree... I also believe that because we (our spirit) are intertwined with God that the good in us is of God....We do things good naturally because we are sooooo focused on him that our hearts transform to His....We begin to think and act just like Jesus....I guess because we become one in unisen.... I believe that God has hidden in our hearts His glory for it to shine once it is called out...And it will be for His glory....But I think that we won't know what that is until someone calls it out and we are with people that draw it out of us....What I am saying is that God reveals His glory hidden in us to other believers...And we begin to speak it out by faith...
