Questions for Evolutionists

The test of any theory is whether or not it provides answers to basic questions. Some well-meaning, but misguided, people think evolution is a reasonable theory to explain man’s questions about the universe. Evolution is not a good theory—it is just a pagan religion masquerading as science. The following questions were distributed to the 750-plus people who attended my debate at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, on January 9, 1993. (The videotaped debate is #6, $9.95.) Questions added since the debate remarked with an asterisk (*).

1. Where did the space for the universe come from?
2. Where did matter come from?
3. Where did the laws of the universe come from (gravity, inertia, etc.)?
4. How did matter get so perfectly organized?
5. Where did the energy come from to do all the organizing?
6. When, where, why, and how did life come from non-living matter?
7. When, where, why, and how did life learn to reproduce itself?
8. With what did the first cell capable of sexual reproduction reproduce?
9. Why would any plant or animal want to reproduce more of its kind since this would only make more mouths to feed and decrease the chances of survival? (Does the individual have a drive to survive, or the species? How do you explain this?)
10. How can mutations (recombining of the genetic code) create any new, improved varieties? (Recombining English letters will never produce Chinese books.)
11. Is it possible that similarities in design between different animals prove a common Creator instead of a common ancestor?
12. Natural selection only works with the genetic information available and tends only to keep a species stable. How would you explain the increasing complexity in the genetic code that must have occurred if evolution were true?
13. When, where, why, and how did:
* Single-celled plants become multi-celled? (Where are the two and three-celled intermediates?)
* Single-celled animals evolve?
* Fish change to amphibians?
* Amphibians change to reptiles?
* Reptiles change to birds? (The lungs, bones, eyes, reproductive organs, heart, method of locomotion, body covering, etc., are all very different!)
* How did the intermediate forms live?
14. When, where, why, how, and from what did:
* Whales evolve?
* Sea horses evolve?
* Bats evolve?
* Eyes evolve?
* Ears evolve?
* Hair, skin, feathers, scales, nails, claws, etc., evolve?
15. Which evolved first (how, and how long; did it work without the others)?
* The digestive system, the food to be digested, the appetite, the ability to find and eat the food, the digestive juices, or the body’s resistance to its own digestive juice (stomach, intestines, etc.)?
* The drive to reproduce or the ability to reproduce?
* The lungs, the mucus lining to protect them, the throat, or the perfect mixture of gases to be breathed into the lungs?
* DNA or RNA to carry the DNA message to cell parts?
* The termite or the flagella in its intestines that actually digest the cellulose?
* The plants or the insects that live on and pollinate the plants?
* The bones, ligaments, tendons, blood supply, or muscles to move the bones?
* The nervous system, repair system, or hormone system?
* The immune system or the need for it?
16. There are many thousands of examples of symbiosis that defy an evolutionary explanation. Why must we teach students that evolution is the only explanation for these relationships?
17. How would evolution explain mimicry? Did the plants and animals develop mimicry by chance, by their intelligent choice, or by design?
18. When, where, why, and how did man evolve feelings? Love, mercy, guilt, etc. would never evolve in the theory of evolution.
19. *How did photosynthesis evolve?
20. *How did thought evolve?
21. *How did flowering plants evolve, and from that?
22. *What kind of evolutionist are you? Why are you not one of the other eight or ten kinds?
23. What would you have said fifty years ago if I told you I had a living coelacanth in my aquarium?
24. *Is there one clear prediction of macroevolution that has proved true?
25. *What is so scientific about the idea of hydrogen as becoming human?
26. *Do you honestly believe that everything came from nothing?

After you have answered the preceding questions, please look carefully at your answers and thoughtfully consider the following questions.

1. Are you sure your answers are reasonable, right, and scientifically provable, or do you just believe that it may have happened the way you have answered? (Do these answers reflect your religion or your science?)
2. Do your answers show more or less faith than the person who says, "God must have designed it"?
3. Is it possible that an unseen Creator designed this universe? If God is excluded at the beginning of the discussion by your definition of science, how could it be shown that He did create the universe if He did?
4. Is it wise and fair to present the theory of evolution to students as fact?
5. What is the end result of a belief in evolution (lifestyle, society, attitude about others, eternal destiny, etc.)?
6. Do people accept evolution because of the following factors?
* It is all they have been taught.
* They like the freedom from God (no moral absolutes, etc.).
* They are bound to support the theory for fear of losing their job or status or grade point average.
* They are too proud to admit they are wrong.
* Evolution is the only philosophy that can be used to justify their political agenda.
7. Should we continue to use outdated, disproved, questionable, or inconclusive evidences to support the theory of evolution because we don’t have a suitable substitute (Piltdown man, recapitulation, archaeopteryx, Lucy, Java man, Neanderthal man, horse evolution, vestigial organs, etc.)?
8. Should parents be allowed to require that evolution not be taught as fact in their school system unless equal time is given to other theories of origins (like divine creation)?
9. What are you risking if you are wrong? As one of my debate opponents said, "Either there is a God or there is not. Both possibilities are frightening."
10. Why are many evolutionists afraid of the idea of creationism being presented in public schools? If we are not supposed to teach religion in schools, then why not get evolution out of the textbooks? It is just a religious worldview.
11. Aren’t you tired of faith in a system that cannot be true? Wouldn’t it be great to know the God who made you, and to accept His love and forgiveness?
12. Would you be interested, if I showed you from the Bible, how to have your sins forgiven and how to know for sure that you are going to Heaven? If so, call me.

I have watched Kent Hovind's dvds, and I think they have good, thought provoking information. I am working on a bible study about knowing what and why we believe, and this week is science, archeology and the Bible.
I try not to spend too much time on evolution, because my students already agree with me, not because I don't want to. It's very interesting how that one aspect of evolution is a "philosophy of life" and not real science- and no one wants to see that.
Thanks for posting this- I need to check out that website to see if there is updated info for my study.

Hi brother Cody: great article....

I myself don't believe in evolution, as in we evolved from Apes or Monkeys, i believe we have a God given ability to adapt to our surroundings over time. If you live in a warm climate, you tend to become more darker skinned. If the language is different, you tend to learn it over time. This all comes from what i believe is part of our ability to adapt.

So when most people see adaptation in progress, they almost always say, hey look, these things are evolving, or hey see, its evolution at work. One example is the ice age, things then, because of the extreme cold, ended up having more hair. (Ie the Wholly Mammoth) Hmm i wonder were they got that name?

Job 40:15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he
eateth grass as an ox.

Did you know that Job is the oldest book in the bible? So it seems, no wonder we see things in this book that appear to resemble dinosaurs, or should i say dragons. The word dinosaur is just a modern name for dragons, as far as im concerned.

Now back to my thoughts on evolution. There are thousands of things to point us to the fact, that this planet and life on it, has an intelligent designer, it is too complex for just a big bang theory. Just the north and south poles, if they didn't exist, migrating birds wouldn't know where to go. (Magnetic Orientation in Birds) they would all probably die.

Nature itself as Paul says, teaches us that the things that are made are clearly seen by us. So we are without an excuse when it comes to saying there is no God, too an Almighty God who has created all things. So i believe we have a God given ability to adapt.

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Hmm i just noticed that migrating birds are useing an invincible force for direction. Praise God, if we know him he will guide us by his spirit as well.

God bless

super article, just needed that at the present time, I keep in touch with my cousin in England via email and he is an atheist, he has studied the science on it, I just bought him a book today to post it's called, 'God and the Atheist' by Paul Ferguson.

I am going to copy your article and when he mails me I am going to send it to him.

It so is a great big cop out. Then they don't have anyone to answer to.
but on the down side they don't have Jesus to help either.

Thanks again.

Darwin wrote his thesis 150 years back. Today the scientific folks talk of 'intelligent design'

Keep going guys....I believe you will get to the truth ere long

Amen brothers sisters, intelligent design is the way to go. Im reminded of trees and plants when i see this subject, i read an article on some of this one time. Did you know that a maple tree grows its seeds in the shape of two little wings? The wings keep the seed when it falls off the tree facing downward, so it can find its way into the soil quicker. Plus the wind carries some of these seeds away from the tree, so they won't crowd themselves. Their wing shapes must of made the Wright brothers scratch their heads.

Dandelions have a seed that when it dries up it looks like little parachutes, when the wind is strong enough they take off like a thousand paratroopers looking for a new home. They can be a pest on your lawn mind you, but it nice to see how they reproduce themselves So the question would be who told, or how does a tree or plant know that there is wind?

A burdock has a seed that is prickly so when an animal of human walks by, it attaches itself to them, and goes on a long ride to find its new planting grown So yes i agree that God was at work in creation, even in the intelligence of plants and trees.

Its like the clockmakers theory all over again...

lol and don't get me wrong, i don't worship the creation more than the creator, this can also be used as an apologetic for unbelievers.

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

May we come to know him, and the power of his might...

God bless

Genesis 1 v 1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

no mistaking it there.

Klaus Dose, the biochemist who's considered one of the foremost experts in this area, summed up the situation pretty well, when he wrote....

"More than thirty years of experimentation on the origin of life in the fields of chemical and molecular evolution, have led to a better perception of the immensity of the problem of the origin of life on Earth, rather than to its solution. At present all discussions in principle theories and experiments on the field, either end in stalemate or in a confession of ignorance"
(Klaus Dose "The origin of Life" Science Review 1998 p 348)

"Every time I write a paper in the origin of life, I swear I will never write another one, because there is too much speculation chasing too few facts" (Francis Crick "Life Itself" 153)

What is encoded on the DNA of every living creature is simply written information. We use a 26 letter alphabet in English, in DNA there is a 4 letter chemical alphabet, whose letters combine in various sequences to form words, sentences and paragraphs... These comprise all the instructions needed to guide the functioning of the cell. They spell out in coded form the instructions for how a cell makes proteins. It works in the same way that the alphabet in our language.

When we see written language we can infer, that it has an intelligent cause. An we can legitimately use analogical reasoning to conclude that the remarkable information sequences in DNA also had an intelligent cause. Therefore this means life on earth came from a 'who' instead of a 'what'.
(The Case for Faith p 110)

How do you tackle if thats the right word, someone who believes in Jesus and calls themselves a Christian, but has no problem with believing we come from monkeys? They are a teacher and have taught about science in different 'forms'. This really surprises me, or am I being naive? Are there many Christians who believe the same, because if we are made in the image of God, how can we come from monkeys? Or am thinking too 'physical' here.

i agree with you 100%. Theistic evolution is a cop-out for any Christian or person of faith. Today you see Muslims taking the Quran with obscure verses and saying it confirms evolution. Looks to me like Satan using all he has to defeat God's plan. Poor thing is just dumb. Evolution would be believable* if it had a shred of evidence.

Not at all naive Jean, if we have evolved from monkeys why have not all the monkeys evolved then?

did some not want to become human?

I for one do not believe it for one second.

in the image of God, exactly.

The person you speak of teaching such things, is contridicting her Christian beliefs.
