Better [is] the poor who walks in his integrity Than one perverse [in his] ways, though he [be] rich. Proverbs 28:6
Far too often in our culture, the measure of a man is stated in terms of what he earns or what he possesses. Those with the biggest bank accounts or the most and best "toys" are the ones many see as the most admirable, as those we should emulate.
Your Father in heaven, however, applies no such measure to men. He sees men's hearts and is concerned above all that your thoughts and behavior reflect the standards He's given in His written Word.
Integrity, which can be defined as living and thinking in a way that matches one's profession of what he believes, is of the highest importance to God. He's not so concerned with what you accomplish here on earth as He is with you living a life of integrity.
Whether you're rich or poor by worldly standards, God calls you to let your thoughts and actions align themselves with your verbal profession of faith. A man who does that, whether he's filthy rich or dirt poor, is rich indeed.
Prayer: Thank You, Father, that You don't measure me in terms of what I earn, what I own, or what I've accomplished Instead, You measure me in terms of the integrity You've instilled in me.
