Dear Brother
@B-A-C
Thanks for sharing brother. I used to listen to some CW, but then again in my life before receiving Christ, I used to listen to all types of genre, classical, jazz, rock etc.
So, I've found it's not surprising to find some CW artists singing songs that pull at the Christian base. CW for the most part have sung songs reflecting values that Christians could relate to. For a period of time, contemporary country drifted away from such value driven songs, except of course the obligatory seasonal/holiday albums many seemed to come up with during these times. Some are actually quite good too. Alabama did a really good Christmas Album back a few years. Randy Travis is another example of this as well. Sadly, a few years ago, he was found naked after a car accident. Apparently talking to God at the time of his arrest.
It's just sad that many who sing these songs don't carry the faith in Jesus Christ into their own personal lives. I can't speak for all of them, because some do, but you'll find that many of them fall, because one can't balance the World & Jesus Christ in ones life. Eventually something has to give. As far as the Christian Artists, they also have a hard time of it as well. People seem to gravitate to them, as if they are spiritual leaders, because of the songs they sing. Like many churches, the worship part of the service seems to take precedence over the Sermon because of the music. There are problems here. The music can when put against Scripture doesn't always line up. Troubling, because the words to songs found in the popular Christian music is easier to remember, and it requires less time then actually sitting down and reading the Word of God. So, instead of remembering Scripture, one will remember the lines to a song. Good when accurate, but not so good when its not.
I hope you don't mind my comments. Just thoughts that spring up now again on the subject of music. Again, brother thanks for sharing. Always enjoy listening to music when puttering around when doing this or that chore.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.
