Trinity

Whose love is this that has set me free

and whose hands are these having mercy on me

Who hears my cries as I'm down on one knee

Trinity, sweet Trinity

When I close my eyes

I can always feel

my God, dear God

with a love so real...

Night, day, sunset, sunrise

Two different people behind these eyes

One sees sunshine who once saw rain

One spreads love who once brought pain

When I close my eyes

I can always see

my savior, Jesus Christ

having mercy on me...

Full of wonder, joy, surprise

Viewing forever from behind these eyes

No more anger, and no more pain

No more rage that I can't contain

When I close my eyes

I can always hear it

eternity flowing

through the Holy Spirit...

One's born, one dies, now I'm on the rise

with no more hatred behind these eyes

An angel born, a demon slain

I am gone...now I remain

Whose love is this that has set me free

and whose hands are these having mercy on me

Who hears my cries as I'm down on one knee

Trinity, sweet Trinity

I am forever

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

where somebody, everybody wants to take my last breath
I'll keep my head up, stand straight and walk tall
Though my body is a target, my spirit can never fall
In the middle of the desert or the cold city streets
it's just a matter of time before I'm covered in the sheets
and when my number's up, when my time has finally come
I know I am forever as my body falls numb...

I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me
and in the heat of battle, I bow down on one knee
and thank you, Christ, for this unwavering courage
I thank you Lord for this faith that they will never discourage
My spirit cannot be killed by the actions of men
I'm not afraid to die, I'm afraid to never live again
There's a bullet with my name on it, that's how the story's told
I know I am forever as my body falls cold...

Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me
They shield me and protect me and they set me free
Free to be fearless facing the great unknown
and if I ever feel lonely, I know I'm never alone
You are my shepherd, Lord, I am always in your sight
and if I die today I'll be alive again tonight
and should I die tonight, I'll be alive again by dawn
I know I am forever as my spirit lives on...

Yet you offer me love

I've ran from you and I stood alone
I've defiled flesh, I've broken bone
I killed myself when I cast that stone
I didn't care about my life...yet you offered your own

I've left your side for a sinful place
I know I've caused tears to stream down your face
I created dark memories that are hard to erase
I've done these things against you...yet you offer me grace

I've fallen prey to much temptation
Infatuation, lustful fascination
Self-dedication, self-adulation
I've done these things against you...yet you offer salvation

I've hung myself from that powdered rope
and I've drowned myself in that liquid dope
I've lived in the cross-hairs of the demon's scope
I've done these things against you...yet you offer me hope

I did a man dirty over an inadvertent shove
I scarred the mind and the body of a precious little dove
I think I've hurt everybody that I can think of
I've done these things against you...yet you offer me love

The burden of this world was too great for me
and it offered up nothing but hate for me
I used to always think it was too late for me
but out of the mercy of your heart...you wait for me

One

When I'm tired of feeling some of the feelings I've felt

I grab my pen and my pad, and I melt...

As it takes many raindrops to create stormy weather

the pen and the paper and my heart come together

Like the hues of a rainbow under the ever-spinning sun

the pen and the paper and my mind become one

Like constellations in the heavens on a pitch-black night

the pen and the paper and my body unite

and when the heart and the mind and the body have died

the pen and the paper and my soul...unified

One thing I know, one thing I can control

one heart, one mind, one body, one soul

Illumination

I stared into the sun, and then I stared into the Son

The light could not be reversed, the light could not be undone
The darkness tried to fight it, but was quickly overrun
as one by one...infinite days have begun

The light glowed, it took hold
a feeling of love...uncontrolled
No longer was I empty, no longer was I cold
The light was a recital that was waiting to be told

It was a story of living, a story of dying
A tale of children laughing and of mourning mother's crying
of lost souls being sold, of the soul-collectors buying
A snake about to strike and a dove forever flying

The snake controlled my mind, while my heart went to the dove
One unleashed hate and pain, the other only love
The snake dragged me toward hell, the dove pulled me up above
The battle rages to this day, a war I've never dreamed of

For I was blinded in the darkness, where every day is night
The snake's puppet on a string, too weak to put up a fight
but my life has many chapters, unwritten...so I write
The illumination brought salvation, the illumination of the light
