Rich Minerals Found In Tea

- from Singapore's Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao

The minerals found in tea is not easily destroyed by hot water. Singapore
general hospital's Dr Chen Li Wu (nutritionist) said that tea leaves have 10
types of minerals and elements which are useful for the body. This is more
than your typical vegetable or fruits.

Green tea has the most elements and minerals compared to other types of tea.

Research revealed that high grade green tea is seen to be a treasure box of
vitamin C. Every 100 gms of green tea has 250-300 mg of vitamin C. Thi is
similar to lemonsl According to estimation, a cup of green tea has 56 mg of
vit C. Because tea leaves has vit C and other different types of chemical
compounds and minerals, according to test reports, even if tea is boiled
between 70-100 degrees celcius, vit C cannot be completely destroyed. Having
been boiled at 80 degrees for 5 mins, only 15% of vitamin C in the tea is
destroyed. Vit C is for protecting blood vessel walls and skiln
composition - it is necessary for these two functions.

Tea leaves also contain B complex vitamins and it is found in tea in a
comprehensive manner. There are about 10 types of B complex. According to
lab test reports,. tea leaves have higher levels of B1 complex than most
vegetables. The amount of B2 that it contains will be more than rice, noodles, beans,
melons , fruits or vegetables.

100 gms of tea has P complex in amounts of 340 gms. Complex P can sustain
the normal blood flow in the arteries. It is useful for that. It increase
immunity, helps in lower blood pressure and prevent blood clots.

Tea leaves also have many types of complexes including A D K and E. Amongst
them A is present in far greater amounts than other types of food.

According to Chinese doctor Dr Li Jin Long, as recorded in Chinese medical
manuals, there are 28 different types of minerals in Chinese tea. This
acounts of 4 to 6 % of the composition of tea leaves. 50-60% of these
minerals can tolerate hot water and would not be destroyed by it.

He revealed that according to the estimation by Nanking University Chemistry
faculty and modern analysis centre, tea leaves contain minerals such as
calcium, oxygen, copper etc.

According to the report, tea leaves have much more minerals than the typical
vegetables.

Dr Li pointed out that tea is useful in helping to slow down ageing ,
prevent heart disease as well as tumours. It also helps to maintain general
health.

Well I never....I am a tea belly. I cannot recall how many cup's of tea I drink each day. The kettle seems to be always on the boil.

I guess that is a consequence of being retired.

Thankyou for the thread Coconut.

May it be so
