Who besides me likes Rick Warren? I love his preaching style. We are doing the Built Strong series right now. I watch online. Don't worry about my church life. He's my church and that's all that matters to me, and God.

Right now we are doing Relationships. Building strong relationship with Jesus is the most important. I'll post more later. God bless.

I think he mostly gets it right.
When it comes to relationships with Jesus and other believers in the body not many others come close.

What I learned today was that we need to be "members" of the church not "attenders" as he called most of them. It's our church, not just the pastors.

I'm going to consider Saddleback church my church. I have looked for a church around here, but can't find one I like. I don't drive and don't want to have people drive me to church every Sunday. So, pastor Rick Warren is officially my pastor.

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God
John 12:43

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Greetings @Dana Covert

You asked a question and you may not like my answer but I write in peace and love
Please be prayerful and careful, seek the Lord about the teachings of Rick Warren
You have the Bible as the word of God....our lamp and our guide.
The only truth worth listening to.

Below are just a couple of quotes/actions of Rick Warren that raise concern:

Did you know that God smiles when you be you. Some people have the misguided idea that God only gets excited when you're doing “spiritual things” like going to church or helping the poor or confessing or doing something like that.
The bottom line is that God gets pleasure watching you be you. Why? He made you. And when you do what you were made to do He says ‘That’s my boy!’, ‘That’s my girl!’

You're using the talent and ability that I gave you... So my advice to you is look at what is in your hand, your identity, your influence, your income, and say its not about me, its about making the world a better place.” –Interview on TED Talk TV show, Feb 2006

The Rev. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest and one of America’s most influential Christian leaders, has embarked on an effort to heal divisions between evangelical Christians and Muslims by partnering with Southern California mosques and proposing a set of theological principles that includes acknowledging that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.
The men presented a document they co-authored outlining points of agreement between Islam and Christianity. The document affirms that Christians and Muslims believe in “one God” and share two central commandments: “love of God” and “love of neighbor.” The document also commits both faiths to three goals: Making friends with one another, building peace and working on shared social service projects. The document quotes side-by-side verses from the Bible and the Koran to illustrate its claims.

Regarding his best seller

The Purpose-Driven Life will guide you to greatness--through living the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

This book will help you understand why you are alive and God's amazing plan for you--both here and now, and for eternity... This is a book of hope and challenge that you will read and re-read, and it will be a classic treasured by generations to come...The Purpose-Driven Life is a blueprint for Christian living in the 21st century..."

"Personal computers have brand names. But inside every pc is an Intel chip and an operating system, Windows," Warren says. "The Purpose Driven paradigm is the Intel chip for the 21st-century church and the Windows system of the 21st-century church." —Rick Warren, Christianity Today, Oct. 2005

I think that Rick Warren is in deep deep doodoo, to say the least. When he has the chance to share the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, he most often instead shares a false social gospel, that is no really gospel at all.

There is a documentary entitled "Church of Tares: Purpose Driven, Seeker Sensitive," out there that exposes many things about "America's Pastor."

Blessings,

Travis

Thank you @Travis for pointing out the most important point (that I failed to mention)

That is the fact that Rick Warren perverts the glorious gospel message and turns it into a self growth social tool.

Guys, I don't believe anything that's out there. I looked up to see before if there was anything bad that I should know about, but, I couldn't find a thing. So, Rick Warren is going to be the person I like. I appreciate thst you're caring enough to point out these things. I'm sticking with him and that's okay with me and God of course. God bless.

Dana,
Be careful if anyone tells you it is about you because it is not. We all want to think so and it is so alluring but it is not God's way. The first transgression against God was by lucifer (aka satan) his desire was to high and lifted up like God. It was his sense of self/pride that God cast him out of heaven for and he fed the same garbage to Eve in the garden. We are of that same adamic nature and when people puff us up and tell us what we want to hear it feeds that very adamic nature.God see s the proud from far off but He embraces the humble.
AW Tozer wrote Seemingly there are many sins but that is just seemingly actually they are all just branches connected to one evil root and that root is self the only escape is the cross
If you do not think people can be blinded.............There is a guy in the US I think he has the largest congregation in the world, he wrote a book which is on the best seller list and it is called "Your Best Life Now" Think about this.......... the only way this life were living right now is best we will have would mean we are going to hell. Because God has promised us so much more.

Its not me
But it is He
Who dwells
with in me
My will is like
The morning dew
Here then gone
When the Son
comes in to view

Dana,

You were provided examples exposing his beliefs. You reject the truth and the possibility that he's a false prophet. I highly recommend you consider having a teachable spirit instead of being stubborn to the truth. Opinions and feelings never dictate factual truth.

Do not be wise in your own eyes. —Proverbs 3:7

I'm not the biggest Rick Warren fan. There are certainly others I like better. But I've visited some of these sites, and I have to say, for the most part
there is a lot of fluff. I haven't found anything where Rick Warren says Christians and Muslims worship the same God. There are no video clips of him saying this.
Yes, he does stress "social-ness" in the church, but is this wrong? Is this against the Bible? Aren't we supposed to be involved in each others lives and loving one another?
For the most part this seems to be attacks by the "grace only" Calvinistic crowd against him. I will continue to look into it, but I haven't seen anything "unbibilical".

Like many other pastors (I've seen the same attacks against David Wilkerson, Billy Graham and others)
a lot of what is said is taken out of context and half truths.

Your comment "I'm sticking with him" regarding Rick Warren has stuck with me
It is Jesus who you need to stick to, to lean on, to learn from
Put Him and His word first.
Jesus died to save you and living a life for Him is all that matters

@B-A-C

Here are just a couple of videos regarding Rick Warren on Gay marriage and on 'Chrislam'

There's only one verse that comes to mind when a well known Christian pastor gets on Larry King and get's such a warm welcome:

Luke 6:26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Many non-believing, influential, secular men and women speak very highly of Rick Warren. This should scare any man of God with the slightest amount of discernment half to death to see such people praising them.

Also, notice how he phrases his first response: "I am not an anti gay or anti gay marriage, activist. Never have been, never will be."

Watch the way he emphasizes the first part of the sentence, then stops, and then says the word "activist," almost as an afterthought. If one were not listening closely, it would sound more like Rick is saying, "I am not anti Gay or anti Gay marriage." This man is a genius when it comes to communication and avoiding be pinned by people. No doubt about it.

Blessings,

Travis

It is indeed a growing list it seems. Somewhere along the way priorities seem to get lost.

2 Cor 2:17; For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.

1 Tim 6:3; If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness,
1 Tim 6:4; he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,
1 Tim 6:5; and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.

Tit 1:10; For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
Tit 1:11; who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain.

1 Pet 5:1; Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed,
1 Pet 5:2; shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;

Matt 19:23; And Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 19:24; "Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
