Salvation - not at bargain rates

Saving sinful creatures made the most difficult and greatest demand of all on God. If the limitless God could be pushed to the limit, then He was, or rather He pushed Himself to the extreme to procure salvation for us all. He threw Himself into the business, left everything else aside and nothing undone, suffered the insufferable. Nothing was fudged. It meant the extreme commitment of climbing the hill of Calvary to be tortured on a ghastly gibbet by uncouth soldiery.

Everest is easier to conquer. ‘He bore our sins in His own body on the tree’.

Salvation was not a commercial transaction. As Scripture puts it ‘We were not redeemed by silver or gold.’

The price was not material. God could not just give what He created. That was no payment. God owns the cattle on a thousand hills and all the beasts of the forests are His. Give of that kind would be cheap giving, costing Him nothing. Salvation could not come at bargain rates. He paid the full prize..."He gave his only begotten Son."

Hence our salvation can never be challenged.
