Matthew 5:33-37

And don't say anything you don't mean. This counsel is embedded deep in our traditions. You only make things worse when you lay down a smoke screen of pious talk, saying, 'I'll pray for you,' and never doing it, or saying, 'God be with you,' and not meaning it. You don't make your words true by embellishing them with religious lace. In making your speech sound more religious, it becomes less true. Mike :computer:

wow brother very true! I myself pray right before I type or after. Sometimes I type the prayer out.. I myself have wondered are people really praying for me whan I ask or is it at face value. God Bless!

Mike,

Matthew 5:33-37 is a good reminder to us all. I agree, we use the words, "I'll pray for you" or "I am praying for you" almost as a cop out now! This is dangerous ground. When you say it, mean it!

Col 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Col 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Col 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Remember what we say, we should do it, not only because the person we told needs it, but because we are to do it as unto the Lord. When we tell someone we are going to pray and we do not, we sin against God and His testimony within us. It is not simply a matter of letting a friend down, it is a matter of letting God down.

Good Post BROTHERSINARMSTG4!

God Bless,

Terry

Thanks for the reminder brother!

I try; & usually succeed, to pray as needs be & right away for some one or thing. I know how easy it is to say you will but then other things came in if you leave it till later.

I can`t believe my eyes! Not a word passed between us, and here this exact message has been on my mind all morning! The Spirit is moving Talk Jesus!
Do we hear? Are we listening? Throw down those religious cloaks, it`s about to pour! Who wants to get soaked? LOL!

1Ki 18:41 Get thee up ... for there is a sound of abundance of rain!

Yes , Say what you mean and mean what you say .

Remember you are as good as your word..- (that ought to stop and make us think about what we are going to say before we say it.) And what would prevent us from sticky our foot in our mouth, is listen to the Spirit of God BEFORE we open our mouth.

Prov. 18:21Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

This is true - whether we speak negative or positive we will eat the fruit of what we say.

Proverbs 8:1 'does not wisdom cry out, and understanding lift up her voice?'

very wise words you state soldier, for if we speak without prayer, if we act without prayer, if we do anything without prayer then we are speaking, acting etc without peace and love, the peace and love that only our Lord can and does bring to our hearts.

and when our hearts and minds and souls are full of this love and understanding then how can we hold back? how can we keep this to ourselves? in truth we cannot, for this love will not allow itself to rest within, it uses ourselves to love others and in so doing it passes to the next person etc, etc.

for when the Lord fills my very soul with His love, He does so that i may and do share this love with all that i meet, for it is in love that we are made whole, and it is in prayer that we allow the Lord to fuel our reservoir of love.

God bless

I do not always pray directly after posting. I only offer a promise of prayer if my heart feels called and then I put it in my prayer journal. I devote specific times to prayer, and take it very seriously.

My friends and I have talked about this. Have you ever told someone you would pray for them, and forgotton the casual response, to be told thank you from the person, that your prayer had worked? It just means God moved someone else's heart to pray b/c you weren't going to. What a feeling to be a dissapointment to God. (and to your friend)

This is why I keep a prayer list.

Thank you for this reminder to say what you mean and mean what you say!

It's like the question goes, "How do you walk the walk you talk?"
I for one am not perfect, and I have been guilty on occasion to not pray for a situation as I am typing. I do later on when I pray, but not at that moment. I pray that those will forgive me.
It is important to pray for a situation as soon as you can. If you think you will forget later on, then pray right then and there. Don't lie about it just to ease their minds!
God Bless you all!

And do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for us to be awakened out of sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we first believed.
The night is advanced [or, almost gone], but the day has drawn near; therefore, let us take off [fig., cease from] the deeds of the darkness, and let us put on [or, clothe ourselves with] the armor of the light.
As in day-time, let us walk about [fig., conduct ourselves] honestly;... not in strife [or, bitter conflict] and jealous rivalry.
_But_ put on [or, clothe yourselves with] the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop making provision for the flesh, for its desires [or, lusts].
Rom 13:11 -14
