Hello everyone!
I have yet another question for all the bible buffs out there!
Ok how do I explain the difference between listening to secular music vs watching secular tv?
This is what the girls in my youth group asked- If we can't listen to secular music because it's not glorifying God, why can we watch secular movies and tv?
Example- We can only listen to Christian music, but we can watch movies and tv?
Obviously they're not asking about tv shows that come on Skinamax (it's not Cinemax after 10 pm!). They're referring to the simpsons, the disney channel, extreme makeover home edition, etc.
I told them this- the enemy uses music to get into our heads because he was the master of music in heaven. also, it's so much easier to be influenced by music. You listen to 30 seconds of a secular song and you're already dancing and singing along. However, you can watch 2 hours of a movie and MAYBE remember one whole line.
Obviously it would be impossible to cut secular tv and movies out of our lives completely unless we want to live in a bubble. So where exactly do we draw the line?
Can we listen to music like the Aladdin soundtrack and watch things on Disney channel?
The bible says we are to engulf ourselves with everything that glorifies God, but in this day and age, that's nearly impossible!
Please help me
