Seeking Unusual Advice

Hi. I'm in search of unusual advice. I will do my best to explain the circumstances. I have a mental health diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder. Within that diagnosis is different identity states- some male, some female. If a personality state wants to be with a person but the sex of the person and the personality states body are the same-sex, is it still considered homosexuality? Would God be understanding? Would God want that type of relationship to cease? Is the bible against homosexuality? I'm pretty certain I am outside the scope of reality because of my disorder and I really need support. It is very difficult for me to reach out and I hope not a lot of judgement follows this post. I will try to provide more clarity if needed. Thank you for your time.

No judgement. I don't know anything about dissociative identity disorder. I - and probably everybody else on the forum - don't have the expertise to give advice.

May I ask a question? In Genesis we are told that God created humans in his own image. Does knowing that give you comfort - or complicate matters even further for you?

Good to have you kn the forum. Welcome.

Well, this is a christian website, so I assume you want a christian opinion. You called it a disorder, and that would be the simple answer, since its a disorder, your desires that arise from your "other" personality sex, is part of that disorder. If you want advice, stick with normal male..female relationships, because thats how God wanted us to be when we are "healthy" mentally.

Hekuran - I understand that about the forum. I don't really need advice in consideration to the mental health but I was asking for Biblical direction. Yes and my faith in God provides me comfort too. Thank you.

Brad - I know it's a Christian website. I do want to say that I may never be "healthy mentally" by societies standards. I was severely abused as a child and this was my brains response to that severe abuse. Anyway, I was just seeking Biblical advice. Thank you.

Yes, it would still be homosexuality. Yes, God would want that type of relationship to cease. Yes, God and the Bible are against homosexuality.

No abuse you have suffered has made you into more than one person. You are one person. And the sex of your person is that as seen in your body.

Are you asking for support to remain and feel ok about continuing as you are? Or do you feel guilty and want to find a way out of what you are?

If you want out, then you are not beyond the scope of help. Your help is the Person of Jesus Christ. You must start there. (John 3:16)

Quantrill - I know I am one person, just in pieces. That is still difficult to come to terms with some days. I'm working with my doctor on that. I guess I felt okay about it and I excused it. I am seeking support in doing what God wants me to do. The person who I was with was convicted. I didn't fully understand. So I put myself out there and asked here. I understand now. I'm also starting to feel selfish in consideration to myself as a whole. It's hard to explain. Thank you very much!

I have a mental health diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder.

The weapon of the enemy against us through deception of who we really are, and our identity in Christ. Our agreement to that deception is his greatest weapon too. The thoughts that we believed and speak on ourselves are powerful too. And this can be brought to life if we choose to believe and live on it.

Amen to what our brother was saying, Jesus is the only way. Seeking and surrendering ourselves to Him is the only way to freedom. God knows all of us @ZakAttk, He knows even the number of our hair and He knows what we are going through.

Praying may the peace of God be upon you always.

Jellani - You have no idea how thankful I am for this response. I never considered that. Thank you so much!

What you are experiencing is two different natures within you that are fighting for the dominance of your person. The Apostle Paul said.....

Rom 7:15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.
Rom 7:16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. (ESV)

Then Paul said this....

Rom 7:17 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

The sin Paul is referring to is the sins of the flesh.

Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

These are the sins of the flesh.....

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
Gal 5:21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

What you want is this.....

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

If you are a born again believer the Holy Spirit within you is the one who produces these traits. This does not mean that the lusts of flesh have disappeared, you need to learn not to "yield" yourself to these desires, and learn to yield yourself unto God.

Rom 6:11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.
Rom 6:13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
Rom 6:14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Medical science can not heal this kind of disease, only God can through Jesus Christ!

You're quite welcome. But again, I emphasize. your only hope is Jesus Christ. He is what God wants you to do. Sit down, read the Gospel of John in one sitting. What would it hurt you? Praying for you.

Praise God. But your statement now and your statements in post [HASH=2063]#(1[/HASH]) cause questioning in me. Can you see that?

So, will you read the Gospel of John?
