God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

A council in Sydney's east has voted to further separate church and state, scrapping the Serenity prayer before each meeting.
....
Bondi Rabbi Eli Feldman was disappointed with the decision to scrap the prayer, which he said helps "connect humanity to God.... When we bring the presence of God into council, we're affirming the good values on which this country was built."

It seems that separation of state and Church is often misunderstood.
Separation was put in place to keep politics out of the Church, not the Church out of politics
