Is there scripture stating that there is a set place for each person to worship in the body of Christ? For instance, if I attended a chuch that I believed in my heart and spirit was right for me but was offended or got into an altercation with a believer at the church, would it be wrong for me to leave and go to another church? Is that my 'set place' -the place the Lord chose for me to worship? Does it matter what church we go to?

I don't know of a set scripture stating that there is a set place for each person to worship.

However, I have been taught that if you believe that God wants you to be at a church and something happens that offends you it is up to you to seek reconciliation with whoever you are in disagreement or dispute with. That involves forgiving the person or person(s) involved. I believe it is a serious thing to walk away with offence because you can take it with you to the next church you go to. I've just found the following scripture which may be of help:-

Matthew 18:15-17

15 If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16 But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church, and if he refuses to listen to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Thanks Racheal for responding so quickly ..I think I might have worded my question wrong however. This hasn't happened to me. Noone has offended me or anything. I was more curious about the 'church'. See we have several members that are leaving for that reason, and my church is actually keeping me in the city that I reside but I dont really care for the city too much. The church teaches that there is a set place to worship and I was looking for scripture regarding this.

I hope someone can help you setapart, I'm not aware of any scripture that teaches we have to go to church, to the contrary, it's a much different picture, yes, we should gather as believers, but nowhere that I know of is it written we have to go to a building or meeting place each Sunday.

God bless
Much love

I know each believer is different, but we all serve the same God. I can't...even imagine not going to church. When I became dissatisfied with my church 2 years ago, the Lord led me back to a church I was a member of while I was a single mom. My daughter and I had loved it there and had been loved by the members in return. So, it was awesome when I took my new husband there, and my new baby boy, and we were received with open arms.

My fire gets good and stoked at church. My pastor really loves Jesus and wants to see people saved and set free. I know in some areas of the world, there are limited places where worship can be done in Spirit and in Truth, so I know God understands that. If you don't have a house of Worship, perhaps you can hold a bible study in your home with other believers.

Hebrews 10: 22-25 "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised;

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works;

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Sunday School class (or as our church calls it: Fellowship Connection) gives me other believers to be held accountable to. We study the bible in small groups and we know each other well, and pray for each others' needs. I really need this fellowship with others. I'm in a couples' class, and I am in contact with other people who have really good marriages. I need guidance and accountability.

Pray, setapart, and ask the Lord Jesus what He wants you to do. I know He has a perfect plan for you, and this probably include worshipping with others on a weekly basis. He will show you what to do and you can rest in Him that you've done the right thing!

This quote by sister Dreamer illustrates the body of the church to be and include, all believers. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together....." The word assembling means gathering, and this same word can be found in 2Thess.2 v 1 where it is translated 'gathering'

The Church is a gathering of the Lords people. Where we meet is not so important. The important thing is to meet together on a regular basis with other people who love Jesus.

Matthew 15:1-9
1*Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to interview Jesus. 2*“Why do your disciples disobey our age-old traditions?” they demanded. “They ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”
3*Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? 4 For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death.’* 5 But you say, ‘You don’t need to honor your parents by caring for their needs if you give the money to God instead.’ 6*And so, by your own tradition, you nullify the direct commandment of God. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was prophesying about you when he said,
8 ‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far away.
9 Their worship is a farce,
for they replace God’s commands with their own man-made teachings.’* ”

John 4:19-24
19*“Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. 20*So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim,* where our ancestors worshiped?”
21 Jesus replied, “Believe me, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father here or in Jerusalem. 22*You Samaritans know so little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. 23*But the time is coming and is already here when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for anyone who will worship him that way. 24*For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
