What do you think people see when they look at you? Do they see a man with a negative attitude toward others (your boss, your coworkers, your family, a man with a bad temper, a man given to using off-color language or telling dirty jokes)? Or do you think others see you as gentle, kind, loving, and patient?
As Christian men, we are all called to set examples of Christlike behavior, attitudes, and speech for others to see—what the apostle Paul would call “follow(ing) the example of Christ.” Too many of us, however, know we haven’t always been the example others need to see.
Your brothers in Christ, as well as the unsaved in your circle of influence, need to see in you a good example of what following and serving Jesus really looks like. You may have blown your witness in the past, but you can start anew today—and be the man of God people need to see.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want others to see Your light shine through me. Forgive me for those times when I didn’t represent You well, when I don’t follow Your example. Help me to do better starting today.
